Cyberpunk 2077 Lore – The Corporate Wars! (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th!)

Today we are diving into the corporate war history including the first, second, 3rd and fourth corporate wars, the corporations involved & how they have impacted the cyberpunk world and night city.

The first corporate war which lasted from August 2004 to February 2006 began simply. Eurobusiness Machines was attempting to buyout struggling corporation Transworld Airlines. Negotiations began to sour after an unfriendly interaction with Transworld’s CEO.
Orbital Air, who had interest in Transworld saw this as an opportunity to jump in to obtain TWA’s air traffic facilities for their own uses. Orbital Air blocked EBMs buyout attempt with sly tactics, and thus the first corporate war had its foundation.

Orbital Air sent a negotiations team to try to sweeten the pot for Transworld to sell to OA instead of EBM. EBM dispatched terrorists to kidnap this team en route, but the terrorists compromised their identity embarrassing and exposing EBM.

Orbital Air recruited Zetatech as an ally who unleashed a massive wave of net attacks against EBM, and although they were initially crippling, they were quickly halted forcing Zetatech out of the war.

The ripple effect of the first corporate war was vast and set the standard that corporations can obtain favorable deals and assets by using brute force and military scale tactics.

The second corporate war is typically known as the most globally devastating and took place between April of 2008 and August of 2010 between oil giants Petrochem and SovOil.

This conflict started when a merger deal fell through, and a drilling accident at a Petrochem platform accelerated the confrontation to a fully blown war.

Each corporation crippled one another’s oil facilities in a few weeks, although SovOil experienced a greater bout of initial success. Petrochem expended millions of Eurodollars to fight back & regain the upper hand. This peaked when Petrochem captured and assassinated the SovOil founder and CEO Anatoly Novikovo.

The third corporate war lasted from February 2016 to November 2016 and was fought almost entirely on the Net. Hostilities began when financial examiners uncovered a confidence scheme being designed by investment counselors at Merrill Asukaga and Finch against private investors.

This enraged the Rothstein Fund, and they turned everything over to the District Attorney’s office for an investigation. They also hired local netrunners to begin infiltrating MA&F’s data fortress in search of the truth. MA&F fired back, increasing their security and launching their own netrunners against the Rothstein Fund.

Netwatch stepped in and responded by limiting net access and making sweeps which resulted in arrests as well as flatlines. With the net being heavily watched, this is where the conflict moved to the streets. Both corporations started hiring mercenaries, and during a 12-hour period, battles were fought in low earth orbit and earth to destroy the opponents net communications gear and infrastructure.

The fourth corporate war took place between 2021 and 2025 and began in a similar way to some of the prior corporate wars with rival Megacorporations butting heads over a financial objective. In early 2021, IHAG a megacorp specializing in underwater shipping and tech went bankrupt. Two rival aquacorps CINO and OTEC entered the picture to pick up the pieces and both were vying for a takeover of IHAGs remaining resources.

After years of fighting however, neither of the Aquacorps were able to deliver the final blow to one another, and thus, both of them hired external help in larger Megacorps to provide resources, equipment and military gear to aid in battle.

OTEC hired Militech an armaments and security company based in the US, and CINO hired Arasaka, a security Megacorp based out of Japan. As they are both two of the largest paramilitary corporations in the world, with thousands of troops, Arasaka and Militech had been rivals before these contracts with the AquaCorps and were ready for any excuse to be back at each other’s throats.

Both Militech & Arasaka are incredible big megacorporations with an incredible amount of sophisticated technology, so much so that if they decided to wage war, no entity on planet earth would be able to stop them. Small pools of conflict effectively turned into large scale battles that took over entire cities and states such as Tokyo, Yokohama, Washington, Chicago and Night City.

By mid-2022 battles involving aircrafts, AVs, tanks, power armor and thousands of troops was the norm. Cyberattacks disrupted banking, international trade, and media.

On August 20th, 2023 a strike team led by Elite Solo Morgan Blackhand & Rockerboy Johnny Silverhand detonated a pocket nuke in the Arasaka Towers complex in Night City, reducing the building to rubble and wiping out thousands of people. Silverhand was killed at the hands of Cyborg Arasaka Solo Adam Smasher.

Cyberpunk 2077 Lore – The Sports Of Cyberpunk!

Today we are diving into the Sports of Cyberpunk 2020, how drastically they’ve shifted since the 90s and the corporate interests and backing behind the augmented future of sport.

This is based off RTalsorian’s Cyberpunk 2020 Home of The Brave Sourcebook which 2077 is based on, so if you are interested in the source material there will be a link in the description.

Sports have changed somewhat since the 90s where the professional sports industry was arguably the most powerful in the world. Generating over 100 billion per annum in media revenues it’s safe to say that Sports teams and their players were involved in a very lucrative industry.
20th century athletes drove themselves to insane lengths, driven to the brink by peers, family and media in an effort to be good enough to demand salaries and contracts that could add up to as much as 50 million dollars per year. With perfection being the name of the game, athletes were tortured psychologically, injected with primitive steroids and hormones to reach their peaks. This left many athletes crippled, disillusioned and psychotic post retirement.

As the Collapse wreaked havoc upon the economic, social and political structure of the United States, the change in taste in satiating entertainment did as well. More violence naturally became an obsession to match the turmoil and disillusionment of much of the American Population. By around 2002, the concept of augmented sports was refined to its modern look.

The information age demanded a global and brutal change in the ruleset for already established sports. The corporations begun to take over the sponsorship of games, which first appeared in the only sport with true global appeal in Soccer.

The Arasaka Sakuras, Militech Rangers and the Orbital Air flyers began generating momentum with the public, and by 2006 the first augmented players were added to their rosters.

In 2020 Football is regaining popularity, after being the King of American sports pre-Collapse, mostly due to it being the most violent sanctioned sport of 2020. The only rule here is heavy augmentation and only full-conversion cyborgs and linear-frames are too far and not-sanctioned. Full-body plating is often adorned by spikes and fatalities are a must to reach sky high ratings.

Because there is so much cyberware used, they are often quick-change mounted to combat cyberpsychosis that would be present if it was perpetually on. Whilst from the outside, the game of Football looks like it would be a free for all bloodbath, it is naturally more of a game of finesse and style.

Football is undoubtedly the most violent sanctioned sport, but overall pales in comparison to the unsanctioned gang and nomad sports of 2020.

Gangs sports are disorganized affairs and tend to not have any sense of cohesive teams, or referees. If there do happen to be referees, they’re usually armed with rifles and are only attending to dissuade a greater dispute. There are no time limits on games, and only end when the other team of typically 4-5 players cannot continue. Multiple gangs or nomad families can compete, and the objective is to temporarily incapacitate the team, so outright killing or maiming is forbidden.

The sports collectively played by these gangs are colloquially known as “sticking” and comes from the similarity of each sports equipment which all use different permutations of what is essentially a stick. There are so many different variants of the stick, that the term “sticking” is just the easiest way to refer to all the different versions.
The gangs of Southern California usually resolve disputes with a permutation known as “stickball” which is somewhat akin to hockey with three forwards, two backs of defense and a goalie.

Some vanilla golden age sports do exist such as Golf, which is popular amongst the corporates and executives, as well as Baseball which is still a primarily unaugmented sport. Combat handball is also extremely popular amongst the corporate crowd and is another trial by fire styled activity that the corporates flock to, to prove their worth.
In 2020 athletes are massive investments for the corporate interests who back them, especially pertaining to athletes in the realm of combat and death sports. With players of augmented soccer and Football demanding higher salaries in relation to risk, endorsements become integral into recouping their cash.

Although combat sports are incredibly popular, true death sports are mainly enjoyed in underground entertainment venues, out of the overseeing eye of the public. The only thing close to a nationwide big-money death sport are the North American finals of the World Kumite Tournament that passes through every two years. Despite attempts to keep combat drugs and cyberware to a minimum, killings in the ring happen often.

Cyberpunk 2077 Lore – The Religions Of Cyberpunk!

Cyberpunk’s Religions, how prevalent they have become in the 2020s, larger versus smaller more fringe religions as well as their doctrines will all be discussed in today’s Cyberpunk 2077 Lore video! Well start off with some of the smaller religions and progressively move to the more prevalent ones.

The Beatified Circle of the Celts are a small sect living in isolated communities far from any city, made up of people who feared what modern living had turned into. The circle tries to guide its followers to get back in touch with nature and are led by a group of Elders known as the Druids, a peace-loving group who wants to be left alone.

The Immortal Pyramid is a group who believes that humans are nothing more than intelligent animals, and therefore don’t have souls and do not survive death. Based heavily on the Ancient Egyptian Pantheon, members of the Immortal Pyramid are obsessed with avoiding death and are always carrying and wearing protective equipment and fleeing from any situations with even the smallest chance of risk. The goal of the IP is to find enough money to create a data-centre shaped like a pyramid, with the goal of downloading their minds into memory banks to wait in safety until someone develops a way to make them truly immortal. If the IP is still around in 2077, I’d wager to bet they’re probably pretty interested in the so-called Immortality Chip.

The Worshipers of the Night are a group who wear all white armored clothing, and roam the streets at night to “protect the nights holiness against evil” The worshipers of the Night believe that everyone should feel peace and the ability to rest without paranoia at night, and thus they sleep all day, and patrol all night keeping the streets safe.

Digital Divinity Incorporated was founded on the idea that the Net is the first thing made by man which is infinite, and thus it is proof of mankind’s own godhood. The DDI preached that interfacing with the Net is communion with the true self, that the Net is mans destiny to extend their existence, and that the thought in electronic form is a heavenly or nirvana-like experience.

Deus is the DDIs diving entity in the Net. It is arguably the most suitable religion in the Cyberpunk era with a perfect blend of spirituality and technology, and easily marketable to those with interest in the DDI.
Realism are a relatively small religion based in many of the more technically advanced cities. Realists believe that the real universe is something unbeknownst by us as we are all living in a perfect VR simulation without the ability to “breach” it. Different sects occur within this doctrine, but many believe that all the religions members are gods who are bored with their never-ending existence and have created this simulation just to pass the time.

Satanism is more of a rejection or opposition to Christianity. Most worshipers, mainly Boostergangs and Rockerboys meet together in small groups, each with their own variation of Satanism. As it stands however, no notable church has been reformed and accepted Satanism in place of Christianity.

Moving on to some of the larger religions we first have the Roman Catholic Church during this time has seen a surge in popularity and is still a bolstered world power. The Vatican maintains Swiss troops who have been used in the past to counter Corporation-backed threats on church owned lands, and now more than ever, the Church looks after its own and will go to great lengths in protection of each and every member.

In 2077 Catholicism is likely still popular as Jackie Welles sports multiple articles of clothing with crosses, we see urns with Catholic imagery as well as The Valentinos gang donning many crosses.

Post collapse Judaism has not fared well. With Mideast turmoil and Israeli relations under-pressure under the wake of the Meltdown, Jews in the US feel isolated. Although Israel does offer a homeland for American Jews looking to make the trip, the means of getting there is not readily available to all.

There has been a renaissance in the Islamic Faith in the 2020s and there is a mosque in almost every American city. People of all colors and backgrounds flock to this religion. During the collapse, dietary laws and restrictions saved many Muslims from the septic conditions, and both sects the Sunni and Shi’ite are thriving. Islam is popular among the poor, which make up the majority of Americans.

Buddhism has also grown significantly in America despite it being one of the more complex ideologies as it is an amalgamation of religion, philosophy and psychology. Cyberpunks of the West have trouble grasping its concepts due to its heavy emphasis on non-violence, and the dissociation from the self in quest for enlightenment. Buddhists have a fascination with the net, which lays out an ideal setting for exploration of thought, and in 2020 many Buddhists meditate using exploration of the net as their medium.

Cyberpunk 2077 – ACPA & Power Armor Weapons! (Lore!)

Just like the actual flesh and bone Edgerunners and Cyberpunks in the world of Cyberpunk, ACPAs have a large variety of weapons too.

In Today’s Cyberpunk 2077 Lore video we will be talking more specifically about ACPA weapons and types and styles of weapons that are equippable on ACPAs.

Starting with melee weapons we have the heavy bladed weapons, including axes and swords which can not be wielded effectively by an unpowered human. Some carry these ACPA blades as a mark of distinction or honor, and these blades have the ability to penetrate hard and soft armors. The most common model of bladed weapons is the trooper sword, which sports a classic medieval crusader design. It weighs more than several times that of a normal sword but is still just as sharp as say a good combat knife.

Heavy blunt weapons are very similar but are made at a lower quality production and have less potential for armor piercing as its bladed counter-part weapons.

Large power saws which sport a powered disk or chain saw with very sharp hardened allow teeth and retractable mono swords which are lighter than trooper swords and retractable are also options for ACPAs looking to up their hand to hand and brawly combat potential.
Next, we have machine guns and heavy rifles, which have become the standard primary weapons in ACPA combat in 2020 and can wound a trooper in armor with a well-placed shot.

Most rifles can be enclosed on the arms, or external on the arms or torso as well as being two handed. For external or carrying options, you can also choose to protect it with armored pods or housing units.

The 12.7 mm HMG is a vehicular heavy machine gun, whilst the 13.9mm rifle is a rare rifle based on a .55 caliber anti-tank weapon used between the world wars called the Boys AT-Rifle.

The 14.5 mm KPV is a massive machine gun and one of the most devastating anti-ACPA weapons ever used. Featuring a high ROF, this weapon was the largest machine gun made by the Russians and originally mounted on vehicles.

The 12.7mm Gatling gun is a weapon usually mounted onto AVs and Helicopters whose multi-round penetration can drop most suits of powered armor.

The EMG-85 4mm Railgun has immense power requirements but cannot be matched in its penetration and firepower.

Experimental weapons are typically used in ACPAs due to the nature of their exotic design and functionality, and although Beam weapons are limited to primarily space use, there are a couple that function great on ACPAs.

A painting laser can be used to sport for laser-guided weaponry, which comes in handy for other units on the battlefield. We also have the Meta-Armson “Photon” Assault Cannon, the first combat laser weapon to see field use. Power is provided by a backpack superconductor battery and damage here can be varied by adjusting the amount of power used.

Next, we have scatter-packs which are light weight weapons which use explosive charges to fire an area-filling cone of ammo. These have tremendous recoil and the widths of these munition cones can vary from weapon to weapon. There are also special restrictions on firing scatter packs and firing one in a location not recognized in a militarized zone can lead to a suspension and investigation of the trooper or soldier behind it.

Some examples of scatter packs are the BRP battledress Ripple Flechette pack, which holds clusters of explosive charges in separate tunes which can be fired simultaneously in a 60 degree cone, BFCWA Flechetter Clouds, which fire needle projectiles in a wider cone, and the BIM Minelets volley, which sends a 60 degree cone of mini mines, to damage infantry unfortunate enough to walk over them.

Second to heavy rifles, ACPA- portable cannons are often used on the PA battlefield. The 20mm Rifle is the most common, but options like the 27-30 mm autocannon, the EMG-83 improved railgun, and the 75mm recoilless cannon are options here.

Rockets & missiles are the true heavy arms which are mainly strapped onto Aerial vehicles and helicopters and have extreme destructive capabilities perfect for full military operations. All these weapons require some sort of targeting capabilities. The IFAR is a folding fin aerial rocket and has been in use since the Korean conflict.

The Law 3 is an anti-tank system designed to punch through armor and is one of the more common types of rockets when it comes to power armor. The Light anti-tank guided missile is massively larger.

Cyberpunk 2077 – ACPAs & Power Armor! (Lore!)

Today we are talking about ACPAs or Assisted Combat Personnel Armor, some of the styles, how they operate, their weaponry and uses in Cyberpunk 2020 and potentially Cyberpunk 2077.

Powered Armor as defined in the Heavy Artillery sourcebook is a combat environment suit which 1 has been augmented with rigid or semi rigid composite plates of armor and 1 assists the wearer in carrying its own considerable bulk, and that of the various weapon and utility devices through some sort of powered assist.

With the introduction of Power Armor, a new category of professional Solos began to gain momentum, who could be compared to the brute jet-fight pilots who are well versed in their heavy artillery and equipment. These Solos were called Troopers, with a special ability called Combat Sense like regular Solos but specialized for ACPAs.

Powered Armor have a large array of weaponry and can fit into one of three categories in Smart-Linked, Targeted or Guided.
Smart Linked ranged weapons are machine guns, portable cannons and other simple projectiles, targeted ranged weapons have parabolic trajectories without guidance systems like unguided rockets and propelled grenades, and guided ranged weapons are luxuries on the battle field that virtually assure a successful hit by locking on, such as anti-vehicle and air missiles.
Next let’s jump into the components of what makes up an ACPA and how it’s integral to the Trooper on the battlefield.
Power Armor became feasible with the birth and development of the linear frame, a metal and plastic scaffold of synthetic musculature and rigid supports.

With traditional linear frames not being strong enough for ACPAs, and with R&D teams envisioning the ability for troopers to be able to run, rip open doors and carry heavy artillery, they needed an incredible strong frame. In a rare collaboration Militech and Orbital Air developed an extremely light weight frame made of a crystalline poly-nucleotide lattice and plastisteel fibre.

The quality and composition of armor plates found in PA suits worldwide vary.

All ACPA suits are considered watertight down to 30m and have a filter / rebreather system that allows for 1 hour of sealed operation. They are driven by a fuel cell that allows them to operate for 24 hours straight, although they can be replaced in the field. Pilots and troopers wear skintight, low-friction bodysuits which act as cooling garments, and the ACPA itself requires the wearer to have interface plugs with a vehicle link in his processor.

A suit’s reality interface is integral to the function of the unit. This makes armor combat look a lot like netrunning. Its usually placed in the helmet, and the simplest implementation of this is the aperture-based reality interface. This relies on openings in the helmet protected by projectile resistant glass or plastic but leads to the same vision restrictions as a medieval knight.

Enhanced aperture adds additional lenses and auditory receptors to the suit, to improve peripheral vision and wideband aperture enhances upon this by adding smart targeting and adjusting lenses to help again with peripheral vision.

Full-HUD Wideband adds automatic targeting and an acquisition system whilst environment calculating integrated wideband HUD adds computer power for the trooper to interpret the geometry of the terrain.

Virtual Reality interfaces are the best and interpret the environment for pilot with sophisticated graphics and auditory warning. This is where Troopers and Netrunners are effectively one in the same in how they use their interfaces.

ACPAs also have reflex and control systems that regulate how the Trooper interacts with the outside world via his neural interface plugs and vehicle link. From basic control which is essentially the full range of human motion to high boost to command and control computers which allow increased neuromuscular function and highly automated actions to occur respectively.

ACPAs are equipped with auto-doctors which are automated medical systems to help improve a Trooper’s combat survivability. Examples from lowest tier to highest include the RussianArm KwikFix, the Arasaka Monitor, The Bodyweight Medic, the Militech Repeater and the Orbital Air prime.

Safety systems are also integral for ACPAs and escape hatches are on most units. Self-sealing compressors, food and filtration systems, extended power cells and life support are seen in some ACPAs depending on what they are being used for.

Power Armours are also equipped with audio visual means of communication including satellite uplinks, cell phones, radio links, scramblers, laser communicators, thermal targeting, image enhancement, radar and more.

When it comes to movement ACPAs can climb using sets of blades similar to wolvers, and fly using jets, gliders or Flyer wings. They can also skate around at high speeds and utilize an underwater jet to use at depth.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Militech Explained!

Militech is one of the biggest MegaCorporations in Cyberpunk 2077. Today we are going to be looking at it’s history, how it came to power, key people involved, what they actually do and how they operate in Night City arming and supporting assassins, mercenaries and even full scale military operations. Welcome to Cyberpunk 2077 – Militech Explained!
What we’ve seen thus far from Militech in trailers or the demo is the Militech Crusher, Armored Vehicle, Meredith stout and her surveillance drone, and
Militech International Armaments is a megacorporation valued at 432 billion Eurodollars and specializing in weapons manufacturing and private military contracting. They are the largest weapons manufacturer in the world, and their catalogue of gear, arms and equipment are used by hundreds of nations in departments such as mercenary divisions, assassinations, corporate security and full scale military operations.
Based out of the Eastern US and working closely with police and military forces they have substantially contributed to civilian security systems. They manufacture high grade military tech from simple firearms to heavily armored combat vehicles.
Initially founded as Armatech-Lucessi International by Italian Weapons designer Antonio Luccessi in 1996, Militech didn’t find its footing until 1998 with the trials for a new US infantry assault weapon. The US Government was recovering from bankruptcy during this time, and began the process to replace outdated weapons tech in the M-16A2 rifle. The trials came down to 3 competitors looking to become the new standard issue rifle for the government. The FN SAP, a cheap but clunky and unreliable weapon that allowed the US to maintain low costs, the Colt AR-17X a good but expensive gun, and a submission by Armatech-Lucessi, a compact, reliable and moderately priced rifle.
A member of the joint trial General Donald Lundee lobbied for the Armatech-Lucessi weapon, but due to a further collapse of the economy and a tightening of the budget the government picked up the FN SAP for their standard issue.
Now 6 years later in the second south American conflict, in the jungles of central and south America these unreliable SAP rifles unsuited for tropical climates led to many deaths of US soldiers.
Lundee observed this from afar, and having resigned from the marine corps and taken a comfy seat as CEO of armatech at the request of Luccessi he began to formulate a re-haul of the system and saw th need for an efficient military manufacturer producing high quality equipment. During this time of growth, the company was rebranded to Militech Arms International.
Their first success was in 2004 after a disastrous Central American War where the US finally scrapped the SAP and began new trials for a new standard weapon. The final choice was Militechs Ronin Light Assault Rifle and they soon won the military side arm contract. At the same time this is where Militech expanded their catalogue which included heavy weapons, artillery, and vehicles and aircraft systems. As a more established contractor, they took advantage of yet another economic collapse to buy up competitors to utilize their designers and resources and this is how they came to be so dominant.
Some notable people during this time include Roland Yee, current chairman of the board and one of the original investors in Armatech
We also have Margaret Ellen Goldstein one of the original investors and one time lover of CEO Donald Lundee
Mils Engelsson – vice president and director of the special projects division and known as Dr Death for his unethical and horrifying experiments, and Meredith stout who is a senior operations manager working for Militech in the year 2077, who we see in the demo.
