Cyberpunk 2077 News – NEW City Image & Mike Pondsmith Talks Cyberpunk 2077, Red & 2020!

A NEW image of Night City associated with a spin off Cyberpunk 2077 product, a podcast featuring Mike Pondsmith and what he has to say about Cyberpunk Red, the future of 2077, Robin Williams, The Bozos a New Chromebook and more in today’s Cyberpunk 2077 News Episode!

First let’s jump into some images CD PROJEKT RED &RTalsorian shared to celebrate to new year and the dark future of 2020. Time has caught up with the original Cyberpunk 2020 source material and thus the Countdown to The Dark future has finished, and RTalsorian has shared this picture on their socials! We don’t have biomons and braindances but atleast we have Cyberpunk 2077 coming out soon. CD PROJEKT RED also shared this image of the sourcematerial to usher in 2020 as well as this really cool image featuring what is likely V or a mercenary on the Yaiba Kusanagi. This very Akira or Dredd styled illustration, shared by CD PROJEKT RED Japan.

Moving on we have news that Cyberpunk 2077 will get even more collectible figurines from Sideshow on top of the ones we discussed about in last episode coming from both McFarlane and Totaku. There’s no teaser images of the actual figurines, but we get do get something more interesting for those more focused on the video game, and that is the cityscape in the background. This is very likely official art, as these are officially licensed collectibles, and there is the CD PROJEKT RED logo on the bottom right. I know there;s been a lot of chatter over the size and scope of the map and discussions on if its too small or not wide enough, but I absolutely love the verticality and everything we’ve seen from all the city images so far. I cannot wait to ride the Metro all the way around, and explore all the floors. This image has a very striking skyline, and some really massive skyscrapers and megabuildings.

Next we have a fantastic podcast from BabyBeardMedia featuring Mike Pondsmith. I’ll go over some of the more stand out details, but I recommend you check out the link in the description and check out the podcast in it’s entirety.

When asked what typically starts a new Cyberpunk version, and how Red was initially conceptualized, Pondsmith mentions that at RTalsorian they treat the Cyberpunk Universe as an ongoing story. In comparison to a franchise like Star Wars, he mentions that the original star wars would be Cyberpunk 2013, Empire strikes back would be 2020, Red is a restart f the story line in some ways and that 2077 is more akin to Return of the Jedi.
Regarding what he starts to create first, Pondsmith mentions that the story typically serves the game systems of a table top RPG, but the systems created illiuminate the story. What people are doing in specific time periods, and how they are operating reflect into the systems.

Regarding any supplemental books for Cyberpunk Red, he also reveals Black Chrome, a chromebook that will feature in addition to all the cool technology and cyberware that is apparent in the OG chromebooks, how to use the new environment of Night City and the Cyberpunk world post bombing and post Red. It’s a time where oddly enough, food and shelter is expensive, yet technology is cheap.

Fun fact – Mike Pondsmith is actually an amateur paleontologist, and that he found out Robin Williams actually played the original Cyberpunk, when he left some of his sourcematerial books on the set of Good Will Hunting.
Cyberpunk Red will have new gangs and evolutions and Pondsmith mentions the Voodooboys of 2077 as having emigrated to Night City, andnhave ousted the former Voodooboys from 2020 for knocking off their culture.

He also seems to make reference to Bozos forming larger communities in Red, something that may trickle into 2077.
Mike mentions that in comparison to all other Cyberpunk works from the genre, he thinks the version explored in his work and with CD PROJEKT RED is more fun vs depressing and is a cyberpunk that hasn’t been done before.

Cyberpunk 2077 – All Customization Options So Far! (Skills, Perks, Weapons, Vehicles, Lifepaths!)

Today we will be going over all the Cyberpunk 2077 RPG systems and customization options in Cyberpunk, so you’ll really know what kind of choices you will be able to make when you make the plunge and dive into Night City on April 16th.

First we have the option to choose our past or origin story via the Lifepath system. These will influence dialogue options in the game and will allow you to interact with different factions on a different scale. For example if you choose the Street Kid background, your knowledge of the streets and gang life might allow you to press gang members for deeper answers to your questions.

First we have the Nomads which are described as “Roaming the Badlands, looting scrapyards, raiding fuel depots – life on the road wasn’t easy, But growing up in a nomad clan has its perks. Honesty, integrity and a love of freedom – qualities that few in Night City possess and no amount of money can buy”

Next we have Street Kids. “They say if you wanna understand the streets, you gotta live em. Gangs, fixers, dolls, small-time pushers – you were raised by them all. Down here the law of the jungle dictates the weak serve the strong – the only law in Night City you have yet to break.

Finally we have the Corporate Lifepath. “Few leave the corporate world with their lives – fewer still with their souls intact. You’ve been there – you’ve bent the rules, exploited secrets and weaponized information. There’s no such thing as fair game. Only winners and losers.

Next we have something that im sure a ton of you will be spending an inordinate amount of time on, and that’s the character creator. Within this we will have to choose our physical style, what our character will look like and their physical traits.

We start of with body type which you can match with a male or female voice. You will be able to use sliders for body types according to this post on reddit, but to what degree is still to be determined. Moving on to the appearance tab, we have an expansion of the character creator since E3 2018, although visually it might seem condensed. If we combine these character creators we have skin tone options, eye type, eye color, nose, ears, mouth, jaw, beard, surface wiring, hairstyle, scars, tattoos, makeup, piercings.

Moving on we have the ability to choose our attributes, which will run into our perks and the fluid class system. The attributes include Reflexes, which funnels into handgun, rifle and blade proficiency, cool which leads to assassination, nerve and sniper rifle skills, technical which leads to engineering skills, intelligence which leads to hacking options, as well as body which opens up shotgun, melee, two handed and athletics options.

Raising our base level attributes is done by levelling up and installing body cyberware, skills are raised by performing actions like hacking crafting and using weaponry, and perks are unlocked via street cred and general XP.

Your options when it comes to cyberware are replacing things like legs, arms, torso and even your nervous system implants

Speaking of Street cred we also have clothing options and customization that will boost resistances and add street cred, which is your social currency. Physical, thermal, emp and chemical resistances vary from clothing item to clothing item. The visual styles of neokitsch, kitsch, entropism and neomilitarism extend to not only the architecture and districts, but also the clothes and the options in Night City will reflect this. Increased street cred will also unlock additional vendors for more clothing, cyberware & customization possibilities.

When it comes to weapons, we will be able to augment how they look and operate. Skins, scopes, and even firing modes. Using weapons will augment your shooting proficiency and will help narrow your crosshairs for more accurate shooting. You will also be able to craft specialized ammunition that can be more lethal against certain enemies.

Vehicle customization seems like its in the cards as well, but nothing at the moment has been confirmed for this yet, although we do know that different vehicles will have different stats.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – 2 NEW Gangs & Map Size Revealed?

2 NEW gangs have been spotted in Cyberpunk 2077 promotional material AND an image of the map size in it’s entirety which matches up with Cyberpunk 2077’s metro map and deep dive data flow map! Other Cyberpunk 2077 News include Full conversions, cyberpunk 2077 characters, how big the story is, new cars, new statues and an odd comparison between NASA and CD PROJEKT RED!

Cyberpunk 2077 News – LOADS Of Q&A Details! (Story, Destructability, Lifepath, Loot & MORE!)

A Huge Info Dump ft. FPP Sex Scenes, Lifepath Apartments, Destructibility, Story length VS Witcher 3, Skipping Cutscenes, Useless Loot, Car Customization & Street Racing, Timed Dialogue, Difficulty Settings, Day-Night Cycle & More For Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed via Reddit the last couple of days so today we are going to go through this latest Cyberpunk 2077 News and put some context behind it!

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Map Size EXPANDED, Unique Crowd System & 20 Million Sales Forecast!

Has Cyberpunk 2077’s Map EXPANDED Horizontally? Today we are going over some forecasts for CD Projekt and Cyberpunk 2077 in the new year via Business outlet Bloomberg, some new Cyberpunk 2077 related products available for pre-order, some more details from John Mamais, some Countdown to the Dark future episodes, some fan creations and art & more.

First let’s jump into some of the forecasts made in an article via Business news publication Bloomberg.com regarding CD PROJEKT and Cyberpunk 2077s future. CD PROJEKT snagged a spot-on Bloomberg’s 50 businesses to watch in 2020 largely due to Cyberpunk 2077, with estimated sales growth numbers just over 445% and 12-month sales being 108.34 million as per analysts.
In a brief synopsis as to why CD PROJEKT will have such astronomical numbers, Bloomberg’s Matthew Kanterman says this “CD PROJEKT SA, Poland’s largest video game maker could beat analyst 2020 sales forecasts.

Next up we have an article from Ausgamers which adds more detail to an interview we went over in a prior news episode with head of the Krakow studio John Mamais. In a question regarding recent hiring’s and the growth of CD PROJEKT RED, mamais mentions “We weren’t smart enough to know how many people we needed” “When we wrote the initial concept for Cyberpunk 2077, we didn’t know. So, we grew as the design was developing. And really, you don’t know how many cinematic animators you’re going to need until you have a scope for the number of scenes you’re going to have in the game. We didn’t have that in the beginning, we just knew we wanted to have cool cinematics and be as big as the Witcher 3.

The crowd systems we’ve seen so far are incredibly impressive and John Mamis extrapolates on this by saying “We kind of had to do it cause it’s a big city setting right?” “You need crowds of people moving around or it wont look right. It was very technically challenging and still is. We’re working on it in fact. Last time I talked to the technical director, he talked its current status as a real achievement, where we’ve got all these people in the same space moving around. Different to the Witcher crowds, because if you look closely, they’re very similar to each other in how they look and move. In Cyberpunk these are all, in a way, unique characters moving around the space. It’s a combination of AI, tech and art.

Moving on we have a new look at some Arasaka Security forces in this cover art for PCGamer magazine & Map size differences between last year’s 2018 trailer and the one that can be seen here. First let’s take a look at some of the Arasaka riot police fending of Night City citizens. Moving on to the most interesting part of the image we have the new map, which looks a little bit different from the old map we saw in the 2018 trailer.

Now if we look very closely, we can see a ton of new stops added in virtually all directions, with the most significant length added on the south side near Rancho Coronado, and in the North near Westbrook.

Next up we have a couple Cyberpunk 2077 products now available for pre order. First, we have the super anticipated Samurai/2077 bomber jackets which can now be pre-ordered.

We also have the official game guide coming from Piggyback games which comes in a standard and CE version. This guide is described as “The Complete Official Guide to Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive book covering everything in the game. With details on every challenge and feature, the guide offers streamlined progression through the entire adventure, as well as a commanding expertise on all key systems. 100% authoritative: all branching paths, all side quests, all rewards, and all endings fully mapped out; also includes optional challenges, mini-games, unlockables, secrets, and more. Foolproof explanations: every mission, every game mechanic, every meaningful choice covered with accessible solutions. Reference & Analysis Chapter: in-depth coverage of all major game systems, including character progression, abilities, perks, Street Cred, Trophies/Achievements, among others.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – TONS of Developer Answers & Details! (Customization, Weapons, Gangs & MORE!)

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077 video we have a super packed news episode for you including leveling up your weapons and weapon proficiency, an entire recap and breakdown of the 2 hour podcast featuring CD PROJEKT RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 community manager Lilayah where we learn a ton of amazing details, a tweet of things to come, The Tygers Claw Gang, Cyberpunk Red’s new box art reveal, a huge info dump from Pawel Sasko the Lead quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077 + more!

Getting right into the news we first are going to go through some of the pivotal questions and answers from our Q+A session with Lilayah from CD PROJEKT RED.

The first question we got answered was in relation to the music direcion. The direction has changed drastically. Refused is the first band they are collaborating with and Refused’s music will be represented by the Samurai band in game.
Lilayah also mentions that based on these details that the 2019 Chippin in version will be the one they use in the game and the 2018 version has been scrapped.

Next we have a question about why Johnny Silverhand has dark hair in 2077 when in the source material of 2020 he has blonde hair. They will explain this in game in depth in game, but Lilayah drops a hint that The immortality chip has gone from hand to hand and this could be the reason why Johnny is no longer blonde.

When it comes to how much of Cyberpunk 2077 is CDPR’s vision compared to Mike Pondsmith’s vision, Lilayah mentions that it’s more like a 75 / 25 split in favor of CDPR with Mike confirming that things don’t break the universe.

When it comes to explaining the lore, they will have lore explanations as part of their content drops.

Apartments unfortunately won’t be customizable and we can only have on apartment overall, but they have an internal decision to make regarding vehicle customization.

Our next new detail we learn from Lilayah is that Cyberware can also be removed and replaced.

Map size is a question CD PROJEKT RED has gotten frequently. When asked about the Badlands Lilayah mentions that the nomads will play a larger part in the story.

When it comes to the dismemberment system, you will need powerful weapons to actually dismember an enemy. You won’t be able to harvest body implants from the body.

When it comes to space travel, Lilayah mentions we wont be able to go to space in 2077.

With the introduction of potentially having non-binary characters, V will still be called V although they are still writing the dialogue.

When it comes to gangs, the 6 districts will have a main gang or gangs, and there will be sub gangs like the scavs in each district. The Tygers claw and Valentinos are the new one that seems to be just as big as the voodoooboys and maelstrom.

Clothing wise, yes you will be able to swap out clothes at any time and the lifepath option you pick will change how you are initially dressed.

Surrendering to the police and wanted levels won’t work like they do in GTA, but you will have to hide and lay low if you create too much destruction in Night City.

Next we have an interview with Miles Tost where he explains a very interesting gameplay mechanic. In this interview Miles mentions that Weapon skills increase from usage, and the more you fire or use your weapons the more proficient you will become at them like in real life. As you train and use your weapon the crosshair gets smaller and tighter, accuracy increases, recoil drops and reload speed increase. The shooting range and boxing arena will be a way to train these mechanics and feature an increased learning speed buff.

Next we have even more developer answers to questions that the twitter community have been firing off to Lead quest designer for CD PROJEKT RED Pawel Sasko,

First we have a question from a user asking if you can dress like a corporate, to which Sasko responds that there will be a ton of equipment options including corporate attire.

When it comes to vehicles Pawel mentions that you are able to buy vehicles in the game, although some unique ones can only be obtained in quests.

Next we have a couple quick details.
We also have some of the audio designers from CD PROJEKT RED taking in some of the sights and specifically sounds of Tokyo.

Before I forget I also wanted to add in one more thing, which is a new Cyberpunk 2077 article in a Chinese magazine showing off some new screenshots from the demo as well as the new Superbike in the game.

Next we have a tweet from again Cyberpunk 2077s community manager Lilayah cryptically hinting at something we will see very soon, with an image of the girl from the E3 trailer modyfing herself with her missing jaw. There’s been some speculation it’s a character creator, which Lilayah has debunked.

Finally we have the reveal of Cyberpunk Red’s box art for the Jumpstart kit coming out on august 1st at GenCon. We also get our first shot at the dice for Cyberpunk red.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Nomads, Nomad Code & Subcultures Lore! (Part 1!)

In todays Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk lore video we are diving into Nomads, subcultures of the Nomads, the badlands the Nomad code, their lore and how they operate.

After the cataclysmic event of the Collapse, Nomads became more prevalent with 20 million people living the highly mobile lifestyle. In 2020 that number has settled at around 7 million Nomads, who have developed a vibrant culture whilst becoming a domineering force in the Cyberpunk age. Although portrayed by media as murderers thieves and raiders are simply highly mobile groups that are resilient, efficient and adapt to the open roads of this dystopia.

The nomads are a group who is constantly on the move, and have always been on the move. Whether it’s from their humble beginnings moving by horseback or foot, to the new era of Nomads who revolve around a much more motorized method of locomotion, Nomads move to wherever there is opportunity, food and work as a collective pack.

The nomads play a vital part in the infrastructure of America in the 2020s. They are integral in construction jobs and development of the nation which cements their pivotal position in the world of Cyberpunk among-st the other factions, people and corporations.

Nomads who are well armed are also involved in cargo transport and new age shipping which is looking to be a major aspect of Cyberpunk red as well as 2077 throughout the Badlands.

These nomadic cargo services also deliver information where hard-copies are needed and out of the eyes of skilled netrunners looking to obtain it, and of course in illegal goods as smugglers.

Nomads also value and respect family and have something called the Nomad code. This is how the nomads should behave and their prioritization of honor in the way they operate.

The nomad code goes as follows. Protect and respect your clan and above all your family. Your word is your bond. Share with your clanfolk. Respect the privacy and property of your clan. Never cause trouble for your clan. Take only a fair wage for a days work.

Before we get into the specific Nation, we first have to look at the Nomadic cultures.

First we have the Agripacks. This is a culture which are descendants of hard working migrant laborers of the past who toiled and suffered via poor living conditions and slave wages, and were very much so discriminated against. As the land was stripped of of resources via environmental conditions, the agripacks who were already fairly mobile had to change the way they lived.

Next we have the native Americans or Indians. In the cyberpunk world they have a long dark history of persecution and have been mistreated by the federal government time and time again. In the reservations in the Northern US they were mainly on farms, and light industry weathering a tumultuous quality of life. The dustbowls heavily affected the native americans in the south and southwest, but the biggest impact was to the warrior tribes of the plains of the great basin.

Next we have Gypsies or Romany, who have very deep roots in America as well as facing some of the same degree of backlash as almost all the other nomadic cultures. Gypsies generally make their living as artists and thieves, although some more prolific Gypsies work as fixers and middlemen. Post collapse the gypsies had easy access to information and with governmental and police forces being fragmented, this allowed them to thrive.

Next we have Carnies. Although perceived similarly to the Gypsies, the carnies are circus people who make their livings at carnivals or circuses which were a mainstay of regular American living. These sub cultures, were hit hard by some of the technological evolutions in the world as new electronics could create experiences vastly superior to circus acts and by the early 90s old carnivals had mostly died off. Larger circuses were still viable, but they were family owned and operated and it started to revolve more around this than business. In response to the changing times and tastes of the Cyberpunk world, circuces travelled with exotic animals, weird cyber freaks, sex shows and chemically-induced entertainment.

Finally we have the bikers, who carry the most negative connotation when it comes to Nomad sub cultures. Before the collapse the biker nomads were on the fringe of society and were mainly made up of blue collar workres who had become frustrated in their lives. They chose to rebel as societal outsiders though they remain loyal to their brotherhood and families. There were several large biker organizations in north America before the collapse including the Pagans, the bandits, and the outlaws. There were also some smaller ones like the iron cross the gypsy jokers and the plague bringers. They are often involved in smuggling and drug distribution and their groups started to grow over time as they became more well known.
