Luigi’s Mansion 3 releases on Nintendo Switch this Thursday, and for those looking to get their hands on Nintendo’s latest game, the best deal may be at Walmart. As with other recent releases, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be on sale for $49.94 at Walmart stores right at launch, according to deals site Cheap Ass Gamer. Unfortunately, these discounts don’t usually extend to Walmart.com, so to save $10 on Luigi’s Mansion 3 this Halloween, you’ll need to drive to your local Walmart store.

This is the latest in a continuing pattern of release-day deals at Walmart, with major games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses getting the same in-store treatment. While other stores like Amazon or Best Buy will frequently price match any discounts posted online, the in-store release-day deals remain a Walmart-specific tactic that’s shown no sign of stopping.

Nintendo’s spooky adventure earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 review. Critic Kevin Knezevic took issue with some aiming issues and cumbersome puzzles, but he praised Luigi’s satisfying new abilities and the collectible-filled hotel you never want to stop exploring.

“The strength of the Luigi’s Mansion series has always stemmed from the satisfaction of exploring its carefully constructed settings, and in that regard Luigi’s Mansion 3 certainly succeeds,” he wrote. “The game may not radically diverge from the series’ formula, but it offers up another meticulously crafted set of challenges to overcome while smoothing out some of the issues that held Dark Moon back, and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you clear a particularly head-scratching obstacle is just as potent now as the first time Luigi unwillingly strapped a vacuum to his back and stepped into a haunted mansion.”

Halloween sales are in full force, with the spooky day of candy and mischief set for later this week. Remnant: From The Ashes is the latest from Darksiders III developer Gunfire Games. It may be reductive to call this Dark Souls with guns, but it certainly takes a lot of inspiration from that series. Expect quite the challenge, as you team up with up to two friends to take on challenging bosses and hordes of enemies.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition – $15 ($40)

Target’s buy two, get one free sale sale is back in session, and this time it covers a wide variety of media, including video games, Blu-rays, board games, books, and music. If this sounds familiar, you might have already noticed Amazon is offering the same deal to match Target’s offer. That sale has some solid game deals worth checking out, but Target’s promotion is pretty awesome, too.

The online-only sale runs until Sunday. Simply add three eligible items to your cart, and the lowest-priced item will discount to zero dollars. As such, if you’re buying two $60 video games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Borderlands 3, it’s smart to add a third game to your cart to get the best deal. It’s advertised as a mix-and-match sale, but it wouldn’t be wise to pick up two expensive items and then get a $10 board game for free.

Just last week, Amazon slashed the price on some of 2019’s biggest games in competition with a same-day pickup sale at Target. Now, the retail giant is back at it again, offering discount upon discount on some great games for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, all of these deals come with free one- or two-day shipping.

Remedy’s new supernatural thriller, Control, is back on sale for $33.74 on both PS4 and Xbox One. Borderlands 3 is also back down to $33.74 on both platforms, and its Super Deluxe Edition is available for $75, down from $100. NBA 2K20, which released in September, is already on sale for $30 on all consoles, including Switch. Borderlands 3‘s Bloody Harvest event is live and its challenges have been revealed. Bloody Harvest releases alongside a new hotfix.

According to YouTuber Menthex, there are 15 challenges in total. Completing them allows you to unlock unique Halloween-themed rewards. Bloody Harvest is scheduled to end December 5, so you have until then to complete all 15 of its challenges. We’ve outlined all of them below.

You can’t jump into Bloody Harvest until you’ve unlocked Sanctuary III, the hub area in Borderlands 3. Once you’ve reached Sanctuary III, talk to Maurice to begin the event. He’ll be the sentient fire-breathing dinosaur creature wandering around. Speaking with Maurice unlocks a quest to hunt down Hecktoplasm. Once you’ve acquired a sufficient amount, you’ll unlock a new area, Heck, where you can battle against the dead spirits of enemies you’ve long since killed. There’s a new boss in the area too, Captain Haunt.

At a glance, it looks like you’ll actually complete most of the Bloody Harvest challenges by completing the quests you get from Maurice. You’ll have to kill haunted enemies anyway to earn Hecktoplasm, and your journey to Heck will see you go up against even more haunted creatures and earn Bloody Harvest loot–such as a new legendary shotgun. The only ones you likely have to keep conscious track of while playing are killing Captain Haunt with a Bloody Harvest gun, solve the Pumpkin Puzzle, and kill 100 haunted enemies with Cryo damage in the Heck Hole.

Another hotfix for Borderlands 3 is scheduled for October 24. The patch makes over a dozen adjustments to Gearbox’s loot shooter, addressing general issues across the entirety of Borderlands 3 as opposed to solely focusing on one aspect of the game, like the October 17 legendary weapons-focused hotfix.

As a result, there’s nothing earth-shattering in the patch notes for this hotfix. Most of the update addresses minor bugs–some are definitely annoying, but none seem game-breaking. Perhaps the most significant change is the added option of adjusting the volume of the 2K and Gearbox logo intro movies that play when you first boot up the game. So you no longer need to worry about accidentally blowing out your ears while playing Borderlands 3 with headphones. The full patch notes are listed below.

Bloody Harvest, the first of Borderlands 3’s post-launch content drops, begins alongside the release of this latest patch. To participate in the event, you must have progressed far enough in Borderlands 3’s campaign to unlock the area Sanctuary III. While in Sanctuary III, look for newcomer Maurice–you literally can’t miss him, as he’s one of those fire-breathing dinosaur Saurians.

Speak to him and he’ll give you a quest to collect Hecktoplasm, which drops from haunted enemies. You can find haunted enemies on any planet, they’re marked by their ghostly green glow. If you haven’t finished the campaign, you’ll likely run into enough finishing off the story. If you have completed Borderlands 3’s story, however, then you have a bit of a grind ahead of you. Thankfully, Borderlands 3 has a decent endgame.

After you’ve collected enough Hecktoplasm, return to Maurice and he’ll send you to Heck–the underworld of the Borderlands universe. Here, you’ll face the deceased spirits of the enemies you killed throughout Borderlands 3’s campaign, as well as a new boss called Captain Haunt. It’s here that you can more easily find weapons that play off the brand-new Terror debuff, and you’ll also have a chance to get Fearmonger, a new legendary shotgun, from random drops. Bloody Harvest continues until December 5.
