Pandora just got a little bit weirder.

Gearbox is set to release a new patch for Borderlands 3 today, October 24. The update addresses bug fixes, stability improvements, and general adjustments, but the studio has also outlined its roadmap for the coming weeks in terms of what we can expect from future hotfixes and patches for the looter shooter.

Gearbox says game performance and stability continues to be its top priority. An upcoming November patch promises to introduce various improvements games-wide, with the studio saying, “performance and stability will continue to be an ongoing effort with more fixes rolled out with each upcoming patch.”

One of the most requested features by the community is an expansion to Borderlands 3’s bank. As a result, Gearbox has begun laying the groundwork for expanding the bank. The upcoming release of Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite will introduce a significant expansion to the bank that will more than double the existing space for storing your items.

Bosses will also be getting dedicated loot pools to ensure that more specific gear drops from defeated bosses. Once this happens as an expected part of the November update, you’ll be able to go to a specific boss and get the specific gear you’re looking for, saving a lot of time and hassle.

Gearbox says it will be introducing some character buffs as well, since Moze’s Iron Bear, FL4K’s pets, and Zane’s Digi-Clone/SNTL aren’t performing as well as expected when Mayhem Mode is activated in the late stages of the game. The developer is looking at ways to adjust damage according to the relevant skills and gear, to make sure Borderlands 3 has as many viable character builds as possible.

Speaking of Mayhem Mode, Gearbox is also planning a significant revamp that will introduce a host of improvements to the way it works. The first update will, once again, be released as part of Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite, and will include the first new Mayhem Mode level, Mayhem 4. The new level promises to offer a significant challenge, with tougher enemies and better rewards that revolve around new Legendary gear. Beyond this, Gearbox will eventually overhaul Mayhem Mode with Mayhem 2.0, adding more UI support, playlists, additional levels, new rewards, and new Mayhem Modifiers that will dramatically change the gameplay.

Lastly, there will be new vending machines cropping up throughout Borderlands 3’s planet-hopping adventure. Gearbox is also hard at work trying to find a solution that will let you skip cutscenes, and it’s introducing a target dummy so you can easily test your gear on Sanctuary.

As for today’s patch, the latest update fixes numerous bugs afflicting Borderlands 3 by addressing various crashes, removing a reported bug in the Space-Laser Tag mission that prevented some players from progressing to the next objective, and altering the Flakker weapon so it now consumes one ammo instead of five, among a host of other changes detailed in the full patch notes.

There’s also a free Bloody Harvest Halloween event kicking off today, introducing spooky new cosmetics like skins and weapon elements, the new Bloody Harvest boss, and a new Legendary weapon. We’re fast approaching the dawn of Halloween sales, where spooky games get discounted and streamers try their hardest to look and sound scared right before the dawn of the actual scariest time of the year for us at GameSpot: Black Friday. Sure, we’re not quite in the midst of any of that, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t video game savings to be had. The latest is the PS4’s October Savings sale, which discounts a bunch of great games, none of which are spooky.

The October Savings sale lasts until Tuesday, October 29, at 8 AM Pacific. The sale features this year’s Remnant: From The Ashes, a challenging third-person shooter from Darksiders III developer Gunfire Games. We also have games like Battlefield 5 and Just Cause 4, in addition to smaller gems like Mark of the Ninja Remastered, Dangerous Driving, and Slime Rancher.

Remnant: From The Ashes – $32 ($40)

Taking a lot of inspiration from Dark Souls, Remnant pits players against hard-as-nails enemies in a third-person shooter format. There is loot, but that’s not really the focus. It’s all about learning your enemy’s movements, getting out of the way, and defeating them before they can defeat you. Just like Dark Souls, there’s plenty of dying and satisfaction when you finally triumph over that challenging boss.

Battlefield 5 – $19.80 ($60)

Battlefield 5 brought the series back to World War II with classic multiplayer modes, and over time it’s added even more, including a battle royale mode. The next free event, titled War in the Pacific, kicks off on October 31. Over the course of War in the Pacific, players will gain access to brand new weapons, two new factions, and reimaginings of classic maps Iwo Jima and Wake Island.

Just Cause 4 is the latest in the bombastic series, harnessing everything the series is known for and creating another exciting adventure as Rico Rodriguez. The satisfying traversal system–backed by the wingsuit, grappling hook, and parachute–returns, in addition to a multitude of tools built for destruction.

The newest event in Borderlands 3‘s anniversary celebration has kicked off, offering two paths to claim some extra rewards. This fourth week of the celebration is called “Mayhem on Twitch,” and as you might expect, that means you can snag goodies through Mayhem Mode, or by using the game’s Twitch extension.

The update has gone live through a micropatch, so you’ll need to head back to the main menu for a moment to verify before moving on. Once you’ve secured it, you’ll get an increased chance for Anointed gear in Mayhem Mode, along with extra XP gains and reduced values for penalty modifiers. Mayhem Mode is the post-game content that unlocks once you’ve finished the story campaign, which gives you access to better loot and harder difficulty mods.

You can also rack up some rewards through watching other people play Borderlands. The EchoCast Twitch extension has been tweaked to accelerate voting periods during Badass Viewer Events, marking a permanent change. On top of that, Rare Chest Events will have a 100% win rate for the event period rather than the usual 25% chance. To enable the EchoCast extension, you’ll have to link your Shift and Twitch accounts using the Shift profile page.

This event will last through October 29, and marks the penultimate part of the anniversary celebration. The final part will be a “Spooky Surprise” starting on October 29, and whatever that surprise is, it’s apparently separate from the Bloody Harvest event that starts later this week.

As with all rumors, take this information with a grain of salt, but the dates listed below do line up closely with dates from previous years. The Steam Database Twitter account also has a history of reporting leaked dates that later turned out to be correct, including this year’s Steam summer sale.

Borderlands 3 will start its Halloween-themed event this week, and a new trailer gives a look at all the goodies and special activities in store for spooky Vault Hunters. The trailer shows some of the new cosmetics like skins and weapon elements, the new Baron of Bloody Harvest boss, and a new Legendary weapon.

The new Legendary is called the Fearmonger, and you can see it spreading the new Terror debuff. The new gameplay element obscures enemy’s vision and weakens gun handling, accuracy, and spread. Special enemies will spread the Terror debuff during the event as well, but they’ll go away when the event ends. Your new loot, which includes two new guns and a shield that all implement the Terror mechanic, will be yours to keep.

The event begins on October 24 and lasts through December 5. To start the event, look around the galaxy (i.e. not Pandora) for Haunted enemies. Defeat them to earn Hecktoplasm, and then trade it with a new character on Sanctuary named Maurice for access to the Bloody Harvest map.

The Bloody Harvest map is where you’ll find most of the Halloween haunts, including the new boss, the Baron of Bloody Harvest. He’s a spectral form of Captain Traunt. In addition to the new weapons, you can also get Vault Hunter skins, Anointed weapon drops that can also use the Terror debuff, a new weapon trinket, and more.

The Halloween event is part of the ongoing anniversary celebration month, which has included special events over the course of October. The current event, soon to be ending with the advent of Bloody Harvest, gives you bonus Eridium, so check in and stock up while you still can.

Anyone who has a Nintendo Switch knows that it’s oddly tempting to buy games for a second or third time just to be able to play them on the go. With that said, right now you can save $20 each on the Switch versions of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster at Amazon and Walmart.

Normally $50 each, both games are available for $30. If you squirmed at the original prices for these PS2 remasters, the discounted prices bring these stellar RPGs down to a far more reasonable price–especially if you’ve already played them on other platforms.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has been around the block. The upscaled collection originally landed on PS3 and Vita in 2014. It moved to PS4, then PC, and finally arrived on Switch and Xbox One earlier this year. Final Fantasy X is widely regarded as one of the best turn-based RPGs of the PlayStation 2 era, and Spira is undoubtedly one of the most captivating worlds in franchise history. Final Fantasy X-2 continued the story and is an underrated gem that differs from its predecessor in surprising and cool ways.

Heads up: Final Fantasy X is on the cartridge, but X-2 is a download voucher that takes up roughly 13GB of storage space.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Final Fantasy XII is a significant departure from Final Fantasy X. Featuring a real-time battle system that will be somewhat familiar to those who have played Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy XII received rave reviews when it initially launched on PS2 in 2006. It still holds up remarkably well today thanks to an engaging battle system, interesting characters, and some spectacular world-building.
