Borderlands 3: New Moze And Zane 4th Skill Tree Abilities Revealed
Borderlands 3 will see the beginning of its second year of content with the Designer’s Cut update on November 10. The release of this new update will also coincide with the launch of the Xbox Series X|S, and the next-gen version of Gearbox Software’s looter-shooter will also be available as a launch title. In addition to the new Arms Race mode, another big highlight for the upcoming content drop are the new skill trees for each of the vault hunters, which will add new twists to their existing playstyles.
GameSpot recently got hands-on time with a pre-release build of the Designer’s Cut, and we spent some time experimenting with the new loadouts for the vault hunters. In addition to that, we also got some hands-on time with Mayhem level 11, the new level for the end-game content that removes the bonus modifiers at the cost of lower drop rates. Previously, we showed off the new skill with Amara and Fl4k. For the former, she wields the new Phaseflare skill that summons a giant orb of elemental energy, while the later gets a new gravity trap and pet loader bot.
Now, we’re finally ready to show off some gameplay for Zane and Moze. We took the time to dive into their new skill-trees and action abilities, so here’s a quick rundown of some of their unique skills and how things are different with both characters.

Borderlands 3 Getting Another DLC Season Pass
Borderlands 3 wrapped up its season pass with the release of Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck, the fourth big expansion for the looter-shooter. But Gearbox isn’t done putting out new updates, as the studio has announced another season pass on the way.
According to the announcement, Season Pass 2 will include two more pieces of DLC, the Designer’s Cut and Director’s Cut. These don’t seem to be traditional content expansions, judging by the description of the Designer’s Cut. That expansion will introduce a new Skill Tree for each Vault Hunter along with the new standalone mode, Arms Race. Gearbox didn’t announce details for the Director’s Cut. The season pass will also include new looks for each Vault Hunter, which will be revealed later this month.
Season Pass 2 and the Designer’s Cut expansion will be available to purchase on November 10, right alongside the launch of free Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrades, but the expansions will be available on all platforms. The Director’s Cut is coming next spring. Pricing hasn’t been announced for either expansion or the season pass.
Borderlands 3 PS5 And Xbox Series X/S Versions Will Be Available At Next-Gen Launch
If you’ve been hunting for vaults with your friends in Borderlands 3 and you’re planning to pick up a next-gen console, we’ve got some good news for you. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/Series S versions of Borderlands 3 will be available at the launch of each console: November 10 for Xbox, and November 12 for PlayStation 5.
As previously announced, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game will be free to those who own the game on the respective previous-gen console. Your add-on content and your save file will also transfer, though if you own the disc version of the game, you need a version of the console that has a disc drive in order to claim your copy.
Borderlands 3 will receive a substantial update to take advantage of this next-gen horsepower, including 4K support at 60 frames-per-second, as well as three- and four-player split-screen for local multiplayer. Vertical split-screen for two-player local co-op is also included, and will come to the Xbox One and PS4 versions at the launch of the new consoles.
Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford Believes Borderlands Is Ready For Next Gen
Borderlands is an explosive and brash FPS-RPG franchise that hangs its hat on crude humor and the largest arsenal of weapons in gaming. Despite its reputation for being a bit one-note and too loud for its own good, it’s earned a massive following that continues to engage in the satisfying loot-grind to earn some rare guns and increase the strength of the core cast of vault hunters. Following Borderlands 3‘s one year anniversary, we spent an hour chatting with Gearbox Software founder and executive producer Randy Pitchford about the early history of the franchise, the ethics of running an evolving game, and what’s to come with Borderlands 3 with the next-gen consoles on the horizon.
