Borderlands 3‘s Director’s Cut DLC has been delayed to April due to complications from the recent severe weather and power outages in Texas. Gearbox issued a statement saying that the conditions “unavoidably disrupted” its work, forcing it to push back the add-on by a few weeks. The new release date is April 8.

The Director’s Cut had been set for March 18, a date that was set in early February. But a severe winter storm hit Texas and surrounding regions on February 13, causing widespread blackouts and other infrastructure problems. Many Texans had no heat and frozen pipes for several days, and the death toll reached 70 in the United States.

Thankfully, Gearbox says, its employees are all safe. But the studio, based near Dallas, TX, was impacted by the storm regardless. It says it has now shifted the Director’s Cut date to “deliver the best possible experience.”

Texas’ devastating snowstorms push the loot-shooter’s next update back a month.

There’s a lot of big games going for AU$5.

The cast of the upcoming Borderlands movie just got a tiny bit bigger: Avengers: Infinity War’s Ariana Greenblatt is set to join as the character Tiny Tina, according to The Hollywood Reporter–and confirmed by Gearbox via Twitter. Already, director Eli Roth has enlisted an impressive stable of actors to fill out his Borderlands world, including Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, and Jack Black lending his voice to Claptrap.

The actress played the role of Young Gamore in flashbacks of the MCU movie and has also appeared in Love and Monsters and will feature in the upcoming In The Heights. In a statement, Roth said, “Ariana is a spectacular new talent in cinema. She has already worked with many of my close collaborators and everyone raves about her. She blew us all away in her audition, and I cannot wait to see her bring the wild, insane, and unpredictable Tiny Tina to the big screen. She’s going to blow up on screen like one of Tina’s grenades.”

Tiny Tina first appeared in Borderlands 2 as an NPC and also popped up in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 3. In the games, she’s voiced by Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest) and is a teenage demolitions expert, which should provide for some very entertaining on-screen moments.

February’s a romantic month, and to celebrate Borderlands 3 will be joining in on the festivities with the return of its Broken Hearts Day event. Much like last year’s event, players will be tasked by Maurice the Sentient Saurian to travel the galaxy, find love, and possibly even some sweet loot.

Maurice’s research on human courting rituals has resulted in enemies spawning floating hearts which when destroyed, add positive buffs to players such as increased health regeneration, a higher chance of obtaining rare loot or turning the floor around enemies into lava puddles. Broken Hearts Day will be live from 12:00 PM PT today and will run until February 25.

A number of gear adjustments have also been added in the latest hotfix, which buffs damage to Legendary weapons such as Kaoson, Garcia, and Impaler. Today’s hotfix also brings the Gear Rush mini-event to an end.

Rest in peace, Battleborn–we hardly knew you … or played you. Gearbox Software’s hero shooter is going offline today for good, rendering the game unplayable more than four years after its launch.

The writing has been on the wall for quite a long time now, with digital currency being removed from sale and the game already being pulled off digital stores. However, up until today, players who were still interested in Battleborn could play the game normally. That’s over, with not only peer-to-peer multiplayer matches being unplayable, but also the single-player campaign.

Battleborn’s fate was sealed almost immediately, as it launched at nearly the exact same time as Blizzard’s Overwatch. The two games are quite similar, with heroes sporting a variety of unique moves and weapons, but it was Blizzard’s game that caught on. The price of Battleborn quickly fell, and Gearbox shifted, well, gears, to other games like Borderlands 3. That was a much more successful project for the studio, releasing on everything from Xbox One to Google Stadia and receiving several DLC packs.
