Cyberpunk 2077 News – Exclusive Screenshots & Hideo Kojima Cameo?!
Hideo Kojima being a possible cameo in the game, some brand new screenshots from various magazines and from CDPR’s own website, giving us some potential insight into Silverhand, a new gang and a fringe district of Night City, more Cyberpunk 2077 world lore, a new character, and some additional details from around the internet all in today’s Cyberpunk 2077 news!
First up check out a couple new exclusive screenshots from Japanese Gaming Magazine Famitsu, found courtesy of JackJake on twitter. The first one seems to be during the street kid lifepath, with a 6th street gang member in the back judging by the patriotic attire. Based on what we believe to be other 6th street members, this guy seems to be quite a bit more augmented than what we’ve previously seen from the 6th street.
Next we have this augmented monk in darker robes, which is a stark contrast to the bhikku monks in the orange robes who are against implantation. I believe this is in the corporate path, and does have me intrigued as to what this guys story is. Corporates don’t strike me as the most meditative people in the world of Cyberpunk so i’m curious to know if he is an Arasaka employee, or not and if he is infact a monk what kind of values and beliefs he prescribes to since it’s likely not the same beliefs as the anti-cyberware monks.
We also have a new screenshot from EDGE Magazine who have recently revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will grace the cover of their september 2020 issue of the magazine. Within the magazine however we find an image of Johnny Silverhand in his full glory. Also shoutout to JackJake again for the upscale and Ani HVX for some revisions. Anyways there is a very curious detail here. Johnny seems to be holding the chip, which as far as we know houses his consciousness. His body doesn’t have the digital glitching and artificating so the question is if he has gotten out of the chip somehow, and is now in control of it. Have you and silverhand traded places, has he trapped someone else on there, and if this is the immortality chip and a physical silverhand, how exactly did that even happen. I’m sure we will find out on November 19th, but for now you can let your brain marinate in these contemplative juices.
Next we have this image that CDPR snuck onto their website, which appears to be the area of Santo Domingo based on the power plants, and the more industrial areas seen on the right hand side. A lot of people were mentioning this as giving them a bladerunner vibe, and the airspace here is pretty choked with not only smog but a fair amount of AVs and flying cargo vehicles.
We also have a district feature on Santo Domingo courtesy of CDPR where they divulge more information of this zone on the edge of Night City. They explain Santo domingo as “One of night city’s oldest districts. Thanks to its location, the district avoided serious damage from the 4th Corprate War. Instead, it tuned into a provisional camp for thousands of Night City citizens seeking shelter. Today, the settlements are gone and Santo Domingo has become a testing ground for industrial projects: corporations destroy old factories, only to build new ones in their place.
Meanwhile, residents scrape a desperate living in crowded megabuildings – constantly wishing for something better. It didn’t take long for a couple of ex-military guys to group together to take matters into their own hands. That’s how the district became a home for the 6th street gang.
Arroyo is the industrial heart of Santo Domingo. In this region of contrast you can find an old nuclear power plant and junkyard right next to high-tech corporate factories. Operational factories keep their own private security, as neglected buildings quickly become gang controlled.
Workers from arroyo live in Rancho Coronado – a self-sufficient housing district with dozens of identical homes. THis neighborhood is reminiscent of american suburbs from the middle of the 20th century.
Moving on we have a tweet from the CYberpunk 2077 twitter page congratulating Hideo Kojima on the release of the PC port of his open world epic Death Stranding. Alongside the congratulations is a render of Kojima on the yaiba kusanagi, from when he visited the CD PROJEKT RED public booth back at I believe the tokyo game show. If you guys remember Kojima had also visited CDPR in warsaw last year. This in combination with the render has led to some speculation on whether Kojima will be featured in Cyberpunk 2077.
