Cyberpunk 2077 News – FREE PS5 Upgrade, Delay Q&A & Lore Book Teases!

Next gen consoles and free upgrades, an investors call question and answer period where we learn more about the nature of the delay, and a small teaser of a Cyberpunk 2077 lore book from a German magazine all in today’s Cyberpunk 2077 News video!

First up check out this snippet of a couple of new pages from the World of Cyberpunk lore book to be released when it’s ready. Very interesting details here so let’s go through them. Now this is the best resolution at this point but we will do our best. In the top right hand corner we have what seems to be a Arasaka trooper of somesort. It seems like it’s a mix between this araska security force, with the helmet of the heavier units. We see the wings on the helmet, as well as what looks like a modified SMG, maybe a version of the Kang Tao smart rifle as well as a Katana.

On the left we have an advertisement for budget arms, some of the cheapest weapons in the Cyberpunk lore. (expand). The bottom features the tagline the 2nd amendement is not only for the rich. The second amendement is a weapons vendor in Night City.

At the bottom we have an ad for moor, with the slogan body without limits. Now whats intriguing is that this slogan is formerly of Zetatech in the deep dive, so either they have renamed Zetatech or they have switched this slogan to the tagline for Moore technologoies. They look like they dable in heavy cyberware modifications. Also this strikes me as an akira easter egg or influence.

Finally we have 4 characters at the top. The woman on the top left, looks similar aesthetically to the Nomad female seen in the entropism picture. Cyberarm, tattooed legs and similar clothing. Next to hear again strikes me as a nomad based on hairstyle and their interesting vest. Next to him is a dude rocking some interesting arm augmentations and what may be some mirror shades. Finally, we have what seems to be a member of the wealthy elite, a corpo.

Moving on we have great news from CDPR about Cyberpunk if you are planning on getting a PS5.

In a forum post we have this statement. “We’re happy to confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 will be backwards compatible with both next-gen consoles!

What does it mean? Your PS4 copy of the game will work on PS5 on launch day. And similarly, anyone who buys the game on box One will be able to play their copy on Xbox Series X when the console launches.
At a later date, we’ll also release an upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077, which will take full advantage of the next-gen hardware. Both of these options apply to owners of physical and digital copies of the game and will be available free.

Moving on of course we have recently found out Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed once again, this time an additional 2 months from September 17th to November 19th. To clarify on what all of this means, CDPR opened up a call to investors where they could ask questions about the game, its release, new timelines and additional details.

First when it comes to expansions and multiplayer, expect it to be delayed in proportion to this 2 month delay. Multiplayer was referred to as further away regardless and may be less affected but expect expansions to be pushed to some degree.

When clarifying on what exactly the finishing touches are, and why its been pushed, CDPR mentions that a hell of a lot of small things want to be tweaked and that they are aiming in high quality of not only the big standout features, but also the minutia.

In a question about previews, yes journalists are playing currently and will be posting their thoughts after the embargo lifts on the 25th post Night City Wire. At the moment there is no real idea if this is articles, video content or a mix of both, as only “reading” previews was mentioned.

When it comes to the next gen versions of the game, they are still planned for next year, and they will look better on next gen from day 1.

When asked what part journalists will be playing, CDPR responds with that they will have access to the opening menu, the character creator and will be allotted a time limit. They will be free to do as they please. There will likely also be bugs, but those are aiming to be fixed in the full version as these are only previews. These previews will be streamed to whoever is previewing the game and be PC only.

When it comes to bugs, a mention of characters passing through objects and the day and night cycle once exiting a building being off were some examples they could give us. More specifically if you are in a bar and it’s raining at 4am and you walk outside, for a split second it will be day before night.

When pressed about older consoles such as the base Xbox One being problematic, CDPR respons with optimization is part of the polishing and that they try to push the best visuals from certain machines.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Night City Wire POSTPONED!

the Night City Wire marketing kick off for Cyberpunk 2077 is being postponed from June 11 to the 25th. In a tweet CD PROJEKT RED says “We decided to move Night City Wire to June 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information on Cyberpunk, but more important discussions are happening right now, and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black lives matter.

Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko followed up with saying “I know you understand our decision. I’m dying to show you everything and talk about the game and spoil you with what we have prepared. But this is not the right time. There is work to be done in the world first.

I know a lot of you may be disappointed when it comes to this, which is understandable, but I think we are all pretty good at exercising patience at this point, and we can wait for games.
Eight years ago on May 30, 2012 Cyberpunk was officially announced so for those of you who have been waiting 8 years, you know what I’m talking about.

Anyways, well still be streaming it on the 25th, I welcome you all to come join in the festivities then, but for now stay safe, take care of each other and be kind where you can.

Cyberpunk 2077 Delay FAQ via CD PROJEKT RED Conference Call!

As a follow up to Cyberpunk 2077’s delay there was a CD PROJEKT RED conference call, where investors & journalists could have their questions regarding this change in plans answered by CD PROJEKT RED, so this video will be going over those details.

If you missed the prior announcement, CDPR took to twitter to say “Cyberpunk 2077 won’t make the April release window and we’re moving the launch date to September 17, 2020. We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done. Night City is massive – full of stores, content and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us precious months we need to make the game perfect. Expect more regular updates on progress as we get closer to the new release date.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you in Night City, thank you for the ongoing support”

This was echoed in the first few minutes of the investors call.

The first question received was in regards to if this new date is set in stone and if there are fears, that it may take even more time to perfect.
The studio responds saying that they know where they stand, and which aspects of the game need work and that they are confident about September 17th.

Regarding feedback on testing and the implication this delay has on future post release content and games, they mention that Feedback has been promising, and they are of course eager to deliver the game, but expectations are high and that they are also aiming quite high.
There will be a shift in the post release content and games naturally with the shift in the release of Cyberpunk.

In regards to September being a more competitive window in the gaming space, CDPR responds by saying that there will always be competition in the gaming space and they don’t see September as any more threatening than April or any other release window. A big single player RPG will find its place regardless of the date and other releases.

They move onto mention concretely that the other Triple A release they are working on is Cyberpunk Multiplayer, and that 2021 now seems unlikely for it.

When asked to elaborate on the reasons for the delay, Adam Kicinski mentions that it’s mainly due to technical and polishing needs. The game is complex and there are glitches but its nothing fundamental. With the level of complexity, polishing is even a complex task. There wasn’t anything unexpected, but they are constantly evaluating the task, and the decision was unanimous as 5 more months would help deliver a perfect game.
While this helps alleviate crunch, the final stages of game development always has this to some degree.

In regards to if this will effect this years E3 and Gamescom presence, CDPR mentions that they will have some sort of present at both, but it’s early to comment on this and there is no full strategy.

When it comes to regular updates, they mention that much of their marketing operates on surprises, but that they have begun pushing the game to rating agencies in PEGI and the ESRB boards.
They mention that they are very very happy with the story and dialogue, but they don’t want to tarnish this with technical glitches.

Distributors seems to be on board and supportive of the delay, but they will continue to talk to them as early as tomorrow.
Hands on previews and impressions were originally slated for February and March but those will be pushed back as well, to give media and journalists something that the studio is happy with.

With games having poor launches in Summer, a question was asked about the real amount of time needed to finish up the game versus a strategic launch in September. CDPR mentions September as being a more effective natural choice and aligns with the time needed to finish.
When it comes to cross gen, or next gen release, bothing has changed on this front. The game is developed with next gen in mind, but their ocus is on current gen.

They mentioned that with 3 months left, they felt this was the last moment for a delay announcement.

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been DELAYED! (September 17th, 2020!)

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed due to not being able to make the release window. The game is playable from start to finish, but its likely that CD PROJEKT needs that extra time.

VIA CDPR on Twitter:

“We are currently at a state where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done,” CD Projekt Red wrote in a press release, embedded below. “Night City is massive–full of stories, content, and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing, and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give the precious months we need to make the game perfect.” CD Projekt Red added that there will be “regular updates” on the game’s progress as the September 17 release date approaches.
