Cyberpunk 2077 – Ripperdocs & Cyberware! (Explained!)

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 video we are talking about Ripperdocs and cyberware, what a Ripperdoc is, what Cyberware is, how we install cyberware, explaining procedures involved in installation, and the pros and cons of visiting legal and illegal ripperdocs in Cyberpunk 2077.

Ripperdocs are NPCs your character can visit in Cyberpunk 2077, who will install all types of different cybernetics and cyberware for a price. With Cyberware being so popular in Night City, so too has the demand for Ripper docs. Ripper docs are a mix between engineers and doctors, installing and removing cybernetics usually out of a clinic or hospital.

Now Cyberware comes in a variety of forms in Night City, from tech that bolsters your quality of life like a bio-monitor, or pain editor, to more lethal cybernetics such as weapon grips increasing your base damage, and cyberlimbs and weapons.

Cyberware is a form of gloating as well, and the flashier your cyberware is, the more power you and respect you can demand. This is called Cyberfashion and is common practice in Night City.

We’ve all seen the gameplay demo where we are walking around the streets. See how many people are wearing Cybernetics that are visible? Lots like to show off, although for some individuals it’s better to be discrete and hide what you’re packing with RealSkinn technology, a synthetic skin that looks like human flesh, to hide away your expensive and deadly prosthetics.

Now each time you add Cyberware to your body, you’ll have to visit a Ripper Doc. On the RipperDoc surgical software, you can pick out and choose your ‘ware based on what you want to use it for. Each cybernetic has a humanity cost, meaning as you strap on more tech to your body, you will start to dissociate from your mind. Cyberware can have a potent effect on the mind, where you essentially go insane and lose your quote unquote humanity, if you over-do it.
Each piece of tech has a different humanity cost. IN 2020 is goes from Low to very high in terms of cost, but for 2077 there is a numerical value attached to each component. Presumably the higher the # the more impact that particular piece of gear will have on your mental state.

If you go full-force with “bumping up your specs” and max out your allotted humanity, you will be classified as a cyberpsycho, which are generally some of the most dangerous characters in Night City. Now as a side note this is only applicable to other people in Night City. Your Character will not be able to go fully cyberpsychotic, for the sake of the story. This has been confirmed by CD PROJEKT RED.

Rehabilitation for this type of psychosis is offered to you by law enforcement in Night City before you get overly violent. This rehabilitation consists of visiting a Cyber psychologist and undergoing trans-formative Braindance sessions, which essentially will chemically disassemble your brain and reassemble it to have more socially acceptable thoughts.

Now within the realm of Ripperdocs and installing and grafting tech to the body, we also have Surgery codes. A surgery code is the minimum level of medical care required to install cyberware, the length of surgical time required, the cost, as well as the difficulty of the surgery. Now keep in mind this is highly subject to change in 2077, but it is part of the rules in the pen and paper game.

Negligible surgeries can be performed in Mall clinics or drop in body shops and generally only take 1 hour. These are fairly easy to perform and can be done by any level of ripper doctor.

Minor Surgeries can take up to 2 hours and must be done at a medical or ripper doc clinic. This hints at V’s surgery being a minor one as we are at OUR Ripper doc clinic with Dr Viktor.
Major and Critial surgeries both require full hospitals with surgery centers. These will take 4 and 6 hours respectively and are only to be done by highly trained professionals.

There can also be some residual and negative side effects of a botched or poorly done surgery. Things like infections, bruising and swelling, permanent scarring and cyber-rejection can happen. Cyber rejection means your body will refuse an implant. In these situations stats will drop, and physical changes may happen. This might be reflected in 2077 from 2020 by having visual scarring, or a hit to stats such as intelligence, reflex and tech levels.

Obviously when it comes to Cyberpsychosis, layering on high humanity cost ware would presumably effect your empathy levels, but empathy is not a stat in 2077, so it might end up rippling down and affecting another gameplay mechanic.

As mentioned in previous videos, V has a 10% discount rate at Dr Viktor. On screen is shown a Neural Processor, which is required for things like smart gun and weapon links. There will not be the ability to play 2077 without having basic cyberware, and this presumably includes a neural processor. This means there will be no purist playthroughs available in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 – The History Of Night City! (Lore Explained!)

With the plot for Cyberpunk 2077 being largely unknown, I thought we would talk about what has happened in the world of Night City prior to 2077. I think It’s safe to assume the story will not be an exact continuation from Cyberpunk 2020 where the Cyberpunk narrative was first fully developed.

This is because CD Projekt Red has stated that they’ve juggled the timeline of prior events to fit with their vision of 2077’s current events. This doesn’t mean however, that large portions of the story won’t be similar, or even a continuation of Night City’s dark and loaded history.

Today we lay a foundation of understanding on what’s happened in the world of Cyberpunk and Night City that’s lead up to present times.

Cyberpunk 2020 takes place In the year 2020 in Night City, an area of 5 million people on the west coast of the United States somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Following an event called “The Collapse” in which there was a socio-economic depression, the United States government has begun to heavily rely on Mega-corporations to keep the nation afloat. As you can imagine, with all the power lying on the shoulders of the Megacorporations, this gives them overruling authority of Night City.

There are a bunch of Megacorporations in this time, but the notable ones are Militech and Arasaka, who have been butting heads since their inceptions.

Militech is an arms company, whilst Arasaka provides corporate security and police to other corporations and governmental bodies.

Now Cyberpunk 2020’s main plotline is told in 3 separate parts called The Firestorm Triology, although the last part never actually came out. This gleaves us with lingering questions that CDPR can address in 2077 should It choose to follow this path.

In late 2021 two major rivalling aquatech companies are back and forth over a third corporation. Each side brings in another megacorporation as the situation escalates, with Militech Being in one corner and Arasaka being in the other corner.

Each company is trying to aquire stock in a related third corporation and thus the Ocean War is started.

During the Ocean War, a variety of things happen

First combat netrunners were recruited by each of the corporations to make runs on stock holdings and muscle their way into acquiring them for their respective companies through the Net.

NetWatch who are essentially the Net Police and work for The Net warn both Arasaka and Militech to stop their net activities with a 12 hour communications embargo.

Militech recruits grizzled Solo Hero and world class Mercenary Morgan Blackhand to oversee securirty operations during this time to bolster their intelligence.

With war brewing banks start to step in namely Eurobank, to increase profits by offering both Militech and Arasaka loans to help in their fight against each other. Both Militech and Arasaka refuse and Eurobank tries to manipulate them into agreement. Megacorps may have unscrupulous morales, anbut the banks are no different.

There is a settlement after turmoil dies down and a peace accord is signed between Militech and Arasaka, oddly enough with the help of Eurobank.

Now the Ocean war had devolved into Militech and Arasaka taking the spotlight from the Aquatech corporations that hired them. Whilst these Aquatech corps fell back into a calmer state, Militech and Arasaka were plotting their next move, and by early 2022 a violent shadow war had begun with Militech and Arasaka trying to covertly hit each other in the pocket books as well as on the frontline with hired mercenaries, cyber-assassins and netrunners.

Now during the Shadow War Arasaka was deep in developing a the Soulkiller Program 2.5, a weaponized computer program that would trap the consciousness of a netrunner on the net forever, forcing their minds to float endlessly in cyber Space.

They can also use this program to unravel Militech secrets and breach into their installations, projects and plans.

With Militech desperate to protect themselves from this devastating program, they reach out to Rache Bartmoss, the best netrunner in the world for help. He refuses their offer, so Militech contact Alt Cunningham, who created the beta version of the Soulkiller and now wants to see its destruction. Alt agrees to get back at Arasaka who has wronged her in the past, and she convinces Bartmoss to join in the campaign.

Bartmoss hits hard and manages to hack himself into Arasaka Killer Satellites to destroy Arasaka’s space factories. Arasaka proceeds to put out a huge bounty on Rache Bartmoss.

Bartmoss, however is deceptive and cunning and ends up locating the Soulkiller master program, and although killed in the process, deploys an unknown program into the Soulkiller.
Alt also, involved in the mission, is absorbed by the Soulkiller.

Cyberpunk 2077 Character Customization Explained! (Gameplay Reveal!)

Today we are going to go through Cyberunk 2077’s Character Customization we saw in the gameplay reveal and explain what it means to the aesthetics, background and details of our characters, to what degree we can customize each point and what it means for the story and lore. Character customization is a big thing in Cyberpunk 2077 and will end up boosting stats like streed cred, strength, intelligence, tech, and cool to name some. They will also influence quests and storylines!

Cyberpunk 2077 – Release Date 2019? (Part 2!)

Today we are going to go through Part 2 of why I think Cyberpunk 2077 will release in 2019 with some brand new evidence that Cyberpunk will be coming out sooner than most people are thinking.

Stick around if you’ve checked out Part 1, and want even more convincing as I have a bunch of awesome new tidbits of info here that will get you hyped about a potentially earlier release window.

So the first off the list is a huge one and it’s that Cyberpunk 2077 is playable from start to finish. Yes you heard that right, infact CDPR has done multiple playthroughs, which seem to be around the 100 hour mark leading them to change the ending because they didn’t like it. The main story is complete, and due to the fact that secondary quests WILL influence the main storyline according to this german interview, that could also mean the secondary quests and contracts or street stories are actually also complete.

It was a mere year and change after The Witcher 3 announced it’s story was done, before releasing so if we put that in perspective we might see Cyberpunk 2077 right after E3 next year.

CDPR lproducer Richard borzymowski has stated that it’s a major milestone for the team and that bug fixes, optimization and polishing are now a focus of the development.

This also means that the world of Night City and it’s 6 districts are more than likely almost if not already complete because the quests and secondary quests undoubtably have to weave through each of the districts to get the complete Night City experience.

Next is that CDPR has stated recently that they have 10 separate writers on the project. The script for the witcher 3 was 450,000 words and that just means a whole lot of resources in developing the game absolutely went into the writing.

Now having a big writing force means that side quests and street stories can be developed separate from the story. The writers create an overarching narrative of the entire story, feel and setting of Night City, to know how to lay out the planning and writing for each individual quest line.

Knowing this and their method of looking at everything from a bird’s eye-view means a potentially more efficient writing and editing process.

Next is the fact that CDPR has stated the quests will be similar to The Witcher 3’s in terms of playtime and complexity. This means that despite it being a new IP, quest lengths will remain similar, so it’s not something of a ridiculous scale like double the witcher 3’s quest lengths or 5000 branching paths.

There will be more diversity in the dialogue system and in the branching story lines, but all in all the playtimes of each quest shouldn’t be drastically different from the witcher games.

Finally we have a statement from CDPR that they have learned from the delay the experienced with the witcher and showing it off to soon and causing resentment for downgrades.

Not having seen the demo or any gameplay thus far can make it feel like the release date is farther off than it is. In actuality it could be because they don’t want another downgrade fiasco.

They also don’t want a repeat of the delay experienced with the witcher 3 and this is why they haven’t publically announced a release date. There still is a release date set internally as game developers usually do, but again they are staying on the side of caution this time.

So those are a couple more reasons why the release date may be 2019, make sure you check out Part 1 if you haven’t and for everything cyberpunk subscribe to the arcade today!
