Cyberpunk 2077 News – “Quite Different” Game Change, 100 Million Pay Out & CD PROJEKT RED!

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 news we’ll be discussing a new interview which reveals a ton of details, including Cyberpunk 2077 being vastly different from it’s E3 2018 build, Some new release date forecasts based off of CD PROJEKT RED’s stock forecasts and their plans for a incredibly large shareholder payout, Mike Pondsmith and the RTalsorian crew visiting CDPR for some low-key Cyberpunk business, Cyberpunks influences from some stand out RPGs which you have likely heard of or played, Gunplay mechanic details, easter eggs, some new design hires as well as some countdown to the dark future details highlighting lethal melee weapons.

Moving on to the Cyberpunk 2077 news section we first have a new Spanish interview from AreaJugones where they interview Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Mateus Tomasczkiewicz whete they learned some incredibly deep details.

In a question asked about how different the game is to the gameplay demo shown in 2018, Mateus responds that there wasn’t a clearn picture of how the game fits into an open world or the larger image of the game at that point. There was a ton of things they didn’t show yet, and they are still working on things. He goes on to add that he would say that the game is pretty different to what they showed last year, but with many details still being in motion.

The next question was if there was any pressure to connect the characters in Cyberpunk 2077 to the audience in the same way as
Geralt and Ciri were for the witcher games. Mateus responds with that they’ve made some big efforts on this and that there will be some very meaningful characters which the public will remember.

In a question about easter eggs in Cyberpunk 2077, Mateus responds with “That they currently have some in mind, but it would be difficult to say how many since they are mostly implemented near the launch of the game.

Next in the interview Mateus was asked a variety of questions about the gunplay mechanics and combat system. Whilst he mentions that Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG first and foremost, he also mentions that there are more ways to progress and complete quests and that they have a good amount of mechanics that are based on this concept that they haven’t showed yet. Mateus also mentions that the game will feature a wide range of weaponry. Based off of this, I think we are going to see some of the stealth and hacking mechanics more in depth in the coming months as well as some new tech weapons.

In terms of actualy gunplay he also states that Cyberpunk 2077s combat cannot be compared to something like Borderlands or Bulletstorm and that you will need to take cover and can’t just jump around to avoid enemies. He does mention however that if you are using a katana or a melee weapon, gameplay tends to become slightly more arcadey and brawley.

In terms of inspirations Mateus notes that some of the big ones were the Deus Ex series, The Elder scrolls series and Vampire Bloodlines mainly due to how much possibility each of these titles offer.

Next we have some information with big release window implications. According to this polish economics website, CD PROJEKT will pay out 100.9 million Zwo-te which equates to 93% of their profits in 2018. Companies generally like to do this when they are about to have a surge in revenue or can stabilize themselves with sales, and this is further evidenced by some analysts growth expectations chart that shows a surge in earnings starting at 2020.

Now why is this relevant? Because a surge in revenue and earnings would likely be tied to a Cyberpunk 2077 release. Again this has big implications and the financial site even claims the premiere of 2077 is near.

Next we have news about Mike Pondsmith and the RTalsorian team visiting the CD PROJEKT RED studio recently. RTlasorian makes the source material of 2077 in Cyberpunk 2020 and 2013, so it’s interesting that they chose now of all times to visit the studio. It’s known that they’ve gone to discuss Cyberpunk 2077 and their Witcher pen and paper game, but it strikes me as curious timing.

Finally we have some countdown to the dark future details wehere we look at some of the more deadly Melee weapons of the source material of Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk 2020. These aren’t guaranteed to be seen in the game, but it gives us an idea of what might.

In episode 112 we learn about the BigRipp implant, which is a blade of up to fourteen inches in your forearm. Simply flex the right muscles and the sharpness pops out. This is the first evolution of 2077’s mantis blades.

In episode 113 we learn about a vat grown seven inch length of bone, reinforced with polymer also installed into the forearm known as a Bonespike.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Katanas & Melee Weapons!

Today we’ll be looking at the Melee Weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 including Katanas, Mantis Blades, some weapons you might have missed in the Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay demo, modules for melee weapons, what kind of melee weapons we can see from the pen and paper game 2077 is based on, as well as looking at how the melee system will work.

So if you guys don’t already know Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a fully – fledged Melee combat system. This means melee combat will be complete with blocks and parries and the ability to stagger or get staggered by your opponent. Looking at this sequence with Trauma Team in the demo might give you a better idea on how that will look.

Kyle Rowley also spoke on how The Witcher 3 will influence Cyberpunk’s melee combat in a recent interview saying “We learned quite a lot from combat in Witcher 3, and we’re translating that to lessons we learned in gameplay about how to do melee and try to transfer that to Cyberpunk” “Obviously it’s very different in the fact that we’re doing it from first-person perspective rather than from a third person, but the lessons we learned in Witcher, we can translate.

Now whether this translates into us being able to complete the entire game without firing a bullet and using melee only builds could be anyone’s guess but there are some things we do know.

First we have confirmation that Katanas will be in the game. We can see that in V’s apartment, she has a weapon bunker with two slots seemingly for Katanas. We also see a Maelstrom ganger drop a sword, possibly being a Katana after a blunderbuss shot to the torso. Now in the Gamescom Demo, which was slightly different than the one CD Projekt Red revealed, we learned that there were Katanas with specific modules, just like the modules and attachments we can add to our guns in the game. The Gamescom Demo Katana had a magnetic field mod, which was able to deflect bullets away from your character. The long blade could also be paired with all the movement abilities that we saw, with V sliding across the floor and dismembering a Maelstrom member. Dismemberment will be a feature associated in Melee combat.

Mantis Blades are also something we have seen in the game. From the very first Teaser Trailer, to the poster on Viktors wall, to seeing it in action as a high level ability the Mantis Blades seem to have evolved slightly from the initial teaser trailer. We see Mantis Blades stylistically look a little different in the E3 Trailer and the Gameplay demo versus that first Teaser trailer. Does this mean that they’ve gone back to the drawing board with the design of these blades, or are there a variety of different types?

Now These blades which are based on The Praying Mantis are not only for slicing and dicing enemies but will also allow us to traverse walls and scuttle along building sides.

We do also see a blunt sword like object being held by a ganger in a Concept Screenshot at the Club Below Deck. The gameplay segment that correlated to that concept art image, doesn’t have that weapon however.

Let’s move on to Melee Weapons we could see in Cyberpunk 2077 from the Cyberpunk source material. I think we will see most of the basic melee weapons like Clubs, knives, brass knuckles and shurikens. Shurikens would my most wanted out of the basic ones from Cyberpunk 2020 and 2013 because I think they would really add another projectile based way to play that kind of combines shooting and melee elements together.

Night-sticks are the melee weapon of choice of the police in Night City and are equipped with two hidden extras for dealing with street scum and thugs. The business end has a taser or hidden mace-sprayer, that can be set off by a trigger on the side handle.

These are manufactured by Excalibur who seem to make a lot of melee weapons in Night City.

Kendachi also has a variety of melee weapons including whips, katanas, knives and canes. The most interesting however is the M-33 Powersword which vibrates its molecular crystal blade 2000x per minute. Combined with its microscopically serrated edge it can inflict some serious damage, even to heavy armour moifications.

It seems some of these swords and katanas in the 2020 universe are better at parrying and counter attacking than others, which could be reflective in their stats and their rarity in Cyberpunk 2077.

Throwing knives are also a part of melee combat which can be used for up close strikes, or thrown from a distance to disable the enemy. The SlamDance Spawnblade, is a partulcarly nasty throwing knife which seperates and fans out inside your enemies body. You can also upgrade your wrist cybernetics to launch the throwing knives at a higher velocity than it can go thrown hand.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Potential Weapons (Part 1!)

Cyberpunk E3 Screenshot Analysis – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoDo-XxBk5E

Today’s video is going to be pretty awesome, because we are going to be looking at the potential weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.

First we have melee type weapons, which gain bonus damage based on body type in the original 2020 game. If cyberpunk lets you fully customize your character I’m sure there will be different damage modifiers based on the equipment you are wearing, or even your body type if that’s available to change.

For basic melee weapons we have the Club, knife, sword, axe, nunchucks, naginata, shuriken, switchblade, brassnuckles, sledgehammer, and chainsaw.

Next up we have advanced melee weapons which include, a survival knife, entrenching tool, Excalibur night stick in both mace and taser styles, an IMI “Chainknife”, Powersword, Mono-Two, Monokatana and Monoknife as well as a Monosword cane, Monowhip, Spring knife, Nunchaku, Smartwhip, Battleglove, Spawnblade and a Utility Machete.

There’s two extra descriptions on the Cyberpunk Wiki with one about to the Kendachi monoknife, and the other about Mystic technologies Nunchaku/Blade.

The Monoknife is an “incredibly sharp, mono-sectional crystal blade. Produced in the Japanese tanto style”.

Tanto which in japanese means “short sword” is a style of knife that is renowned for its strength, and durability.

The Nunchaku is essentially a pair of nunchucks with blades on the end which you can use to slice and dice enemies.

Next up we have archery bows. These are bows that are drawn back and held and fired with a straight pull.

The bows in the 2020 universe are the arms half bow, the bearcat self-bow, the tigercat compound bow, the tomcat compound bow and the wildcat sport bow.

The Arasaka half bow refers to a recurve short bow that can be taken apart into two halves, and is made out of scanner resistant composities.

A Recurve bow is one with limbs that curve away from the archer when unstrung, just to give you a better idea what it may look like.

Compound bows have all the fancy scopes and attachments and a sport bow and self-bow fall somewhere between the compound and recurve.

Next up are the cousins of the archery bows, the crossbows. Crossbows are either cocked by the user, or cocked mechanically, utilizing a winch or other device to drag the string back into position.

Here we have similar names to the regular archery bows like the Eagletech arbalest crossbow, the handbow crossbow, the scorpion crossbow, the stryker cross bow and the nomad hand crossbow.

The arbalest crossbow is an exotic 60-kilo pull bow cocked by using a built in winch. Characters with a cyberarm and internal bracings can reload the bow manually increasing its Rate of fire. The bow is quite large with 50% more bulk than an assault rifle.

Next up we have my favorite subset of weapons called Exotics. Some of these are incredibly unique so let’s go down the list and check some them out.

For exotics we have weapons like the Apex mobile point defense system, the arasaka “Nausteator” riot control device (which sounds fucking awesome), the arasaka restrain caster, the WXA computer aimed weapon, AKM power squirt which is a drug type weapon, laser cannon, arrow gun, wombat airpistol, boomerang pneumatic bolt gun, Petrochem “drug a thug”, incorporated beanbag gun, Skunker, microwaver, air-hammer and the mini missle.

All of these sound super unique and I hope that lots of these are incorporated in 2077.

Next we have the pleuthora of Handguns in the Cyberpunk universe starting with the Light Handguns.

For the light handguns we have the styl-6, the c-13, the cybermag 15, the impact, the x22, the x-38, and the type 12 police pistol.

The budget arms c-13 isa light autopistol and is referred to as “lady’s gun” on the official wiki.

The dai lung cybermag 15 is also a light autopistol but is a cheap hong kong knockoff, often used by boosters and other street trash.

The federated arms x22 is another light autopistol but theyre referred to as the “polymer-one-shot” and are available in different colors.

For medium handguns we have the WSA autopistol, c-41, Laser-niner, m97P, CM-3, Omega competition pistol, enforcement 10 sidearm, street master, “3-spot” machine pistol, X-9mm, gun 9, Taurus pistol, glock thirty machine pistol, m-11 bolt pistol, gamad, typ-97, maxi-10, avenger, black widow flechette pistol, magnum autoloader and revolver, starrier 4, tri star revolver, p-41 autoloading pistol, st-2 pistol, surprising stranger, teen dream,typ-13 and 14 police pistols, tsunami express racegun and the wondernines.

The arasaka WSA autopistol is the standard issue sidearm for all Arasaka troops as well as executives who want to pack a little punch.

The dai lung streetmaster is a larger version of the cybermag 15.
Militech arms avenger is a well-made autopistol with good range and accuracy.
