Cyberpunk 2077 News – CDPR Explains Delay, “Cut Content”, Dark Themes & Future Tech Plans!

21 Extra days for Cyberpunk 2077 with CDPR citing issues with current gen consoles and its tech holding back the original release date of 2077, developer Miles Tost addressing cut content concerns, the reiteration of the game being dark, in the same vein as the Witcher 3, and overhauls to the tech side at CDP going forward all in todays Cyberpunk news!

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Map Districts, Dual Wielding, Aldecaldos, Wraiths & MORE!

TONS to go over today including a flurry of new images, screenshots and concept art from the World of Cyberpunk 2077, news on if Dual Wielding will be implemented for the player, a district feature on the Badlands, the political nature of Cyberpunk and what to expect when it comes to political discussion in Cyberpunk!

First up we have a ton of art via the world of cyberpunk 2077 book which has been released in Germany and will release in North America in roughly 4 days here. First up let’s take a look at Cyberpunk 2077’s gangs. First we finally get a glimpse of the Aldecaldos who are a nomad faction who reside out in the Badlands. More on the badlands later, but these guys are essentially the smugglers and mad max-esque characters in the world of Cyberpunk. They control a large amount of the shipping into and out of Night City, and we even have a panzer boy tattoo on one of the members arms, which is slang for a person who smuggles goods.

Next we finally get our first look at the Wraiths who are a part of the Raffen Shiv. These guys are particularly psychotic and the most feared of the Nomads out of all the various Nomad Nations.

Moving on we have the fan favorite the Tyger Claws, another fan favorite with a picture of one of their sports bikes, along with the scavengers who look significantly more augmented than when we first saw them in the 48 minute demo.

Next we have the combat veterans in the 6th street. Again these guys see to be mostly humanoid and lack the amount of cybernetics that the other gangs have. Experimental cybernetics were used on veterans of the central and south am wars, so it’s likely this is the reason that the 6th street seem to abstain from most types of chrome.

The opposite mentality can be seen here with the Maelstrommers, who are heavily into augmenting anything and everything on their body.

Next we have the Moxes, the Voodooboys and the animals all of which we’ve seen before, and honestly guys I’m a big fan of the diversity in each of these gangs and I don’t think there is one we’ve seen so far that are lacking in their design or I struggle to understand their motives and niche in Night City. Curious to see which out of these are your favorite and why?

When it comes to the map there is various pages with districts and their subdistricts which has been collaged together to make a comprehensive map.

We also have some Arasaka content including a super stylistic picture of this Neomilitaristic interior, everyone’s favorite full body conversion Adam Smasher and this Arasaka trooper sporting a unique weapon, as well as a katana. Speaking of Katanas we have a myriad of colorful options from Arasaka here.

Next we have some Net images. Our first image is of a level 5 netrunning suit, which looks very similar to the Netwatch agency Bryce Mosely’s from the Pacifica demo, the net itself, as well as what could be some Militech Netrunning gear.

We also have some prominent characters including Mox Braindance tech Judy Alvarez, Solo turned head fixer at The Afterlife Rogue, and founder of Night City Richard Night.

All in all there are some amazing shots here as you can see on screen, so I definitely would look into picking up this book in the standard or deluxe version if you are into art and the lore. I have a link in the pinned comment under Cyberpunk 2077 Products, so feel free to check that out.

Moving on we have a quick little tidbit from CDPR confirming that there will not be dual wielding in the game. I’ve been getting asked this question a lot and NPCs like jackie can be seen dual wielding but this does not seem to be something that the player can do.

Moving on we have some district lore this time on the Badlands. Badlands are the vast plains just outside of Night City. Sparsely populated by Nomads, they make the city proper seem like a lush oasis in comparison. Still, this place’s got plenty of life left in it, as well as heaps of golden opportunities for those in the know.

You see, Nomads aren’t the only ones who call Badlands their home. Wraiths, a gang made up of exiles from local tribes and families also live here, and are the main reason behind the disappearances of many a corporate transport. Everybody knows that crossing into their territory without an armed escort — and a small army — is just asking for trouble.

Unchecked resource extraction and derelict oilfields dominate in the north. The east, wastelands full of chemicals and landfills reign supreme.

Finally, there’s the desert to the south. It owes its much less apocalyptic vibe to the many Biotechnica protein farms, as well as the Jackson Plains power plant.

Finally we have an interview with Pavo Sasko via SpidersWeb.pl where a question was asked about if the Black Lives Matter movement fostered any changes in the upcoming game, and the political structure of Cyberpunk’s narrative.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Senior Quest Designer CLARIFIES Misinformation, New Characters & New Song!

Clearing up some misconceptions about a Q&A Podcast from German Magazine GameStar where there were alleged information on Cyberspace combat, a detail about Night City’s thousands of NPCs, the revamped melee system and more, Cyberpunk 2077’s ratings in the middle east, a new song by samurai, and the Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition Console and an awesome add on it comes with all in todays Cyberpunk 2077 News!

First up we have a reddit post which got a ton of traction online and that we actually covered in the past Cyberpunk 2077 Community Podcast. In it the original poster had translated what appeared to be a new GameStar+ podcast featuring Miles Tost and Philipp Weber.

Now GameStar+ is premium paywalled content, and so non-members actually didn’t have access to it, and additionally it was all in German. It was mistranslated, but not before it was picked up by a ton of people including big media outlets.

Now the stand out points from the article were that Cyberspace Netrunning battles would involve summoning RPG-esque creatures, and programs, that thousands of NPCs had daily routines and that the melee system had received a big overhaul. What most people didn’t see however, was Senior Quest designer Philip Weber addressing this information on reddit and twitter as being mistranslated. In a response to a VG247 article containing the misinformation he responded specifically to the Cyberspace battle part as information based on a mistranslation and that it is not correct.

The reddit user directly apologized to Weber to which he responded with no problem at all, just wanted to make sure to clarify so the proper info is out there. I can’t go into detail how these systems actually work, but I am sure there will be more news about Cyberpunk soon with the Night City Wire. SO essentially take all this information from this thread with a grain of salt.
I know we were pretty excited about this info on the last podcast even though we did mention that it wasn’t confirmed, but hopefully battles in cyberspace, npc routines and the melee system are still going to impress however CDPR chooses to implement it.

Moving on we have some updates via the IMDB page for Cyberpunk 2077 on potential new characters. We’ve talked about updates to the IMDB page a couple of times before with characters like Vazquez and Doctor Paradox popping up on the page, but this time we have what seems to be an Asian woman named Wakako Okada played by Ren Hanami as well as Mateo played by Antonio Alvarez. Obviously not much to note about these characters other than they have appeared on the page and may be in the game and that there is quite the cultural diversity so far, which is on par with the diversity we’ve seen so far in 2077 footage.

Moving on we have a brand-new song release from Samurai, Johnny Silverhand’s band in Cyberpunk 2077. This is still as far as I know unlisted on the Cyberpunk 2077 youtube channel, and is named the Ballad of Bucky Rogers? Here’s a snippet of this brand-new rock song by the REFUSED who are creating the music for the fictional in game band.

Next we have a new rating board giving Cyberpunk 2077 the go ahead to be released. The UAE who have historically been pretty harsh when it comes to games ratings did not ban Cyberpunk 2077 from being released their, so for my middle eastern friends you won’t have to jump through hoops to get your cyberpunk fix. This is coming off the heels of the middle east banning the last of us 2. We’ll leave the speculations on why to the community and chalk it up as a win for CDPR’s upcoming title.

Next up we have some news about Stadia. Cyberpunk 2077 will not launch on Stadia, on September 17th and has been pushed back till an unknown date at the end of the year. There doesn’t seem to be an explanation from google either, so if you are a stadia player, that’s a definite bummer. Stadia has been a pretty big failure on google’s end, and I don’t really have faith in the product. If you do own only a stadia but want to play 2077 on release on a budget consider getting a cheap console.

Segwaying nicely here we have the release of the Xbox One limited edition Cyberpunk console that was just released. Not only does it look high tech, but there’s also a ton of easter eggs on the console itself when its under a UV light. Not only does the console look great, but it also comes with a free expansion. Some outlets were mentioning free DLC, but DLC is free for all, so yes the first Cyberpunk expansion that drops will be yours free of cost if you end up picking up this console. Stock seems to be going quickly, so if you get the chance to grab one it might be a good idea.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – CDPR Switching To Remote Work & Lore Book Update!

A colorful new image from CD PROJEKT RED in celebration of a Japanese holiday, an interview with Mike Pondsmith dissecting the Cyberpunk IP, statements from CDPR about the state of the world, how they are handling things and delays, some new Cyberpunk 2077 merch and an update on the release date of a Cyberpunk lore book are all discussed in today’s Cyberpunk 2077 News video!

First off, we have a brand-new image of a character using what again appears to be a Braindance headset. Now we saw the female variant a while ago, but this was tweeted out by CDPR Japan in celebration of what seems to be white valentines’ day. This character is bursting with color and some interesting hair, and many have likened him to this Ekko skin from League of Legends. Definitely strikes me as a similar Asian looking character to this one from the Style over substance poster, and if this is indicative of the character customization options, I know a lot of people will be happy. Gotta love the retro-futuristic clothing choices as well.

Next, we have a statement from CDPR regarding changes they are making while in the final stretch of development for Cyberpunk 2077 based on current events. It reads as follows – “Dear all, many of you are probably wondering how things are at CD PROJEKT RED and how current events influences our day to day operations. Here’s a short update. Over the past week, we have been adapting to the situation and gradually rolling out preventative measures across our entire organization. We’ve also been upgrading equipment and infrastructure and working towards enabling our employees to work remotely, from the safety of their homes.
Today, as a result of that preparation, CD PROJEKT Red switched to FULL remote work for as long as needed. We think this will grant every team member the highest level of personal health safety. And while this all is a bit new to everyone, we are rising to the challenge and showing no signs of stopping in our effort to bring you some kick-ass role-playing action in September!
Stay safe, everyone!

For fans this is great news, as there were some worries that this disruption would invariably lead to a second delay. Now although that’s not out of the realm of possibility, REDs have been praising IT and logistics teams for their preparedness in getting everyone set up at home, and from what I’ve been seeing maybe a cozy home environment is a nice change of pace. I know for me personally, its incredibly hard to stay focused at home, but I have no doubt that these guys will be killing it wherever they are.
Moving on we have updates about the World of Cyberpunk 2077 lore book from Dark Horse. In previous videos we mentioned that the date of the release of this book would likely change to after the release date of Cyberpunk 2077. Dark horse however has swooped in to reinforce that the initial date of release of these is not going to be pushed back, assuming no supply chain interruption. This has me a little torn as I’m pretty sure a lengthy lore book is going to spoil at least some of the world before actually playing it, although knowing me I’ll probably exhibit 0 self-control and read the thing cover to cover as soon as I get it. If you have ordered this book, or are planning to get it, its something to think about.
We also have a 2077 Comic Book which was hinted at a while back, featuring the writing of some of the devs on the actual CDPR team. We get a brief glimpse at the pages, and maybe something story related but it’s really hard to tell what’s going on here. If you have any theories let me know.

We also have a keynote speech with the creator of Cyberpunk 2013, 2020 and Red where he breaks down IP’s and their fluidity in becoming any type of media. He dissects what kinds of traits an intellectual property needs and how these needs transform from books to movies to video games to tabletop rpgs and it’s an overall super interesting talk if you are into the design of media. He makes mention that Cyberpunk had been licensed before, but CDPR is doing what he deems as the most successful licensing attempt with an entry into video games and that Silverhand was designed to be a character who can be on the silver screen, in games or in books, an example of what makes the Cyberpunk IP more potent. He also talks about the Witcher games and their Netflix adaptations, and again it’s a talk worth watching so I’ll link that in the pinned comment and description for you guys.

Finally, we have a collaboration between Doughnut Backpacks and CDPR for this beast right here. Gotta say it’s a pretty snazzy looking backpack, but dear lord that price tag. Not going to lie, I’m a fan of most of the items Cyberpunk related so far that we’ve seen, and this is one of them, but I’ll take a hard pass based off that price, which if you think about it is more than the game itself.
