Cyberpunk 2077 – Where Can It Change & Improve In 2019?

In todays Cyberpunk 2077 and CD PROJEKT RED video we are talking about last years 48 minute work in progress gameplay demo, which spots stood out as a work in progress and some mechanics and details I hope they have improved upon or are shown better or more in-depth this year.

First up we have Enemy AI / Dumb Grunt Enemies not falling in with the lore of Cyberpunk. In last year’s demo, the narrator and Jackie claim we are meeting the Maelstrom gang a gang on the verge of Cyberpsychosis tricked out with high tech military grade equipment worth millions. When it came down to it though they acted like any other dumb grunt AI you would find in any other shooter. No unique abilities, no unique weapons or cyberware used against you and no nuinanced combat based on interesting things they would do. They would hide, look the wrong direction, stand still or look around all confused. Now I know for the ease of viewing the difficulty had to be turned down or this aspect might have had to be nerfed for the demo to showcase all the other elements and to proceed through it at a quick pace, but honestly the enemy AI and lack of their abilities made the gameplay look dry.

The next concern I have is them making the world feel large in a car. Now they have mentioned this before as a challenge for the game, and I’d have to agree. In the Witcher travelling over a more horizontally vast environment was long enough ontop of the fact that you would have to take a horse or walk. In Cyberpunk we have speedy super cars, bikes and aerial vehicles whizzing around at light speed through the air. I have no doubt that they will be able to make the world feel vertically large, but it has to have some sort of horizontal scale as well. I hope they make the city infrastructure so that there are a ton of roads and alleyways that weave around the city to make it at the very least feel horizontally substantial, but it is something I’m sure that is hard to implement.

Next we have More customization, sliders, options, clothing. The demo showed 10 different options for things like facial features and skin tones but as detail oriented as Cyberpunk 2077 is aiming to be, I think sliders to really nail the detail along with pinpointing how you want your character to look before loading in is just as vital. What we saw, whilst a good introduction of first step needs a dizzying array of options to match the style versus substance missions statement of the Cyberpunk genre. The vibrancy of all these options for ourselves has to match the vibrancy and level of choice once we finally get out there and this can only be matched with a lot of options in the character creation screen. Clothing is another entity by itself and since we have seen very very little of that so far, I’m not going to harp on it for too long, but again the more options the better.

There were repeat models in the demo wearing the same thing and this is a no go for the final build. Each character in Cyberpunk should be unique because that is the only way to stand out in this world of peacocking and elaborate fashionware trends.

Companion commands are something initially talked about in our Cyberpunk 2077 community podcast. This would be us directing our companions into doing actions in combat or during dialogue sequences. Examples would be to command Jackie to lift the car here, or TBug to hack the panel here through our own hotkeys or instructions. In the demo they are largely done autonomously and although this has to happen, there has been rumor of the companion command system being deeper than this. A small example is a dialogue option with Jackie where he tosses you the Air hypo, or you can choose to do CPR on Sandra yourself. Maybe without the air hype she would die and this causes consequences with Trauma Team later on, and makes a choice you made on your companions behalf have weight and impact within the narrative. I would like to see this explained better, or for it to be shown.

Next we have The Net as a 3D interface and an alternate reality instead of a jack in and click mini game. This style of jacking in is more of a Crystaljock method of hacking from the lore, so I hope netrunning is exactly as mentioned in the lore with the 3d user interface filled with icons, viruses and hostile netrunners to go to battle against. It has to be more than what we’ve seen and yes they specifically mention it’s a work in progress before this moment in the demo so it’s likely they have changed it.

Finally we have The gunplay. Whilst the sound design of the weaponry so far is fantastic, it does look a tad floaty and weighty. Even the scavenger boss doesn’t seem to know how to handle this huge weapon and it lacks the oompf or power a big gun like that should make us feel like it has. Yes he may have subdermal armor, grips, linear frames and borg attachments to take the brunt of the recoil, but we need for the shooting experience to feel more visceral.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Organized Crime Lore! (Yakuza, Triads, Mafia, Organitskaya!)

In todays Cyberpunk 2077 and cyberpunk lore video we are talking about organized crime and crime organizations in the world of Cyberpunk and how they run their operations and underground activities in throughout the world.

Organized crime groups are disciplined groups of criminals who run criminal businesses and enterprises with the goal of control, power and notoriety. They can operate anywhere from locally all the way up to internationally. Groups can have members that are all part of the same ethnic group, region, clan, or they can also involve people from various groups. These organized crime conglomerates can be called syndicates, mobs, cartels, families, clans, mafias and so on.

The most powerful organized crime crime groups of the 21st century are the Chinese triads, the Japanese Yakuza, The Russian Organitskaya and the Italian Mafia. There are other crime syndicates including drugs lords of peru, Colombia and southeast asia amongs others.

Let’s look at the big 4 global criminal networks in the world of Cyberpunk as well as the organized crime within the Unites States of America.

Within the big 4 we first have the Chinese Triads. The triads originated in the 17th century and were founded by several monks who despite their loyalty to Manchu emperors were betrayed when their monastery was destroyed and their fellow monks were slaughtered by imperial forces. They vowed to overthrow corrupt regimes and established a secret anti-Manchu society.

In the Cyberpunk Era the triads benefited greatly through overseas expansion into Canada, the US and New Zealand, where their participation in a war led to them becoming allies of corporations based in Hong kong.

Triads vary greatly on how they are structured as some are loosely organized and some are a structured hierarchy. The dragonheads which are the triad leaders usually lead a low key low profile life where they run a small business or restaurant to keep the façade of humility as they are running their operations in the shadows.
The triads are into a wide variety of criminal activities.

Within china there is a massie black market in weaponry, satellite dishes, cyberware, imported food and Japanese braindance, and they often dip into the vices of gambling and prostitution. They run smuggling operations, designer drugs manufacturing and house invasions amongst other things. In the United States the triads are the most brutal of organized crime groups, terrorizing or killing entire families as warnings to others. The big hitters of the Triads usually have cyber modifications and a wide variety of combat drugs to give them the edge in combat.

Next we have the Japanese Yakuza, a word which comes from Sammai Karuta a Japanese gambling game, in which getting 19 points is the ideal. Now I’m not sure if this is a mistake in the Wiki, but in real life the goal is to get 9 points. The worst hand is the cards of 8-9-3 pronounced ya-ku-sa hence the name.

The yakuza is spread globally in the same rate and scope as some of the most successful Japanese corporations. In the Yakuza, you choose two paths, death or prison.

The leader of a Yakuza clan is called the Oyabun who has his powere granted by the chief of the Osaka Clan. These chiefs are the alliance of Yakuza bosses overseeing worldwide Yakuza operations.
The Yakuza are into extensive body tattooing which is used to identify their clan affiliations.

Next we have the Organitskaya the Russian mafia from the new USSR. Organized crime is so deeply ingrained in the Soviet Union that law enforcement doesn’t take action unless mob wars break out.

The organitskaya are into smuggling and dealing weaponry, technology, food, aeroydynes, computers and western cyberware. The Organitskaya are not united and usually have internal conflict over control of military-grade weaponry.

In Russia the Organistkaya collect proctection money from 80% of the business in Russia, and have over 8000 syndicates with more than 180,000 members.

Next up we have the Mafia, an organized crime network of Italian origin in North America and Europe.
In Europe there is the Sicilian Mafia, The Neopolitan Camorra and the youngest faction the Nuovo Mafia. In the state of Italy, both the Sicilian Mafia and Camorra have become legitimate political parties.

The American Mafia’s origins trace back to the Sicilian clan-families known as the Coas Nostra. Due to the myth that the Mafia were non-existent, they were able to consolidate their power and adopt a cloak of secrecy.

The American Mafia is organized into families each of which owns a specific city. They are lead by a Capo or godfather who is always male, and his successor is always male. the mafia provides their community with services, goods and desperately needed loans.

Finally we have the sudams, who consist of Colombians and other south American drug cartels and their western offshoots.

Bad News For Cyberpunk 2077 At E3 2019 OR Community Over-Reaction?

In Today’s Cyberpunk 2077 video we are talking about the state of Reddit and to a lesser extent Discord at the moment when it comes to people losing their minds over some of the latest Cyberpunk 2077 news, and trying to put this “bad news” into perspective. I think a lot of online gaming communities tend to devolve into guilty until proven innocent mentalities when it comes to developers these days, for no fault of their own.

Now if you guys are unaware a lot of this backlash is coming off the heels of new knowledge that gameplay from the private demo and the public showcase at E3 2019 will not be recorded or livestreamed and posted online. This has led fans of CD PROJEKT RED and Cyberpunk 2077 into being pretty upset and concerned, Based off the fact that it took so long for CDPR to release their 48 minute gameplay last year after they showed it at E3 and Gamescom 2018. This along with recent statements and coupled with the fact that CDPR has promised their biggest showcase ever has left some people confused.

First off, we know CDPR are perfectionists, and they are going to take their time in development. Based off recent statements saying that the game is quite different and development is an iterative process, them showcasing it to a select few for opinions at-least initially is the same philosophy they had last year. Quite different means again that they are in the same boat as they were before they released their 2018 demo to the panels at E3 and Gamescom.

Next, We don’t know their E3 plans in the slightest. They are not showing the gameplay from the on floor event from 11th and 13th, but that does not count out the possibility of a general gameplay trailer, CGI trailer, screenshots, info-dumps, interviews, story details, dev diaries and more. In fact Lilayah the Cyberpunk 2077 community manager has even said that there will be content for those of us at home including suprises when pressed as to why the demos will only be seen by attendees. Remember Sony is not showing up. Cyberpunk 2077 will have to carry a lot of the weight

Now they have also claimed their biggest E3 ever. Again we do not know their plans for E3 but large elements of their marketing scheme is going to be shrouded in the air of mystery and surprise. They have said this publicly for some time as well as saying they will have their largest marketing campaign ever. Some of this marketing budget has to be allocated into giving us content at home, which make up 99% of the chunk of the people with eyes on 2077, a thorough look at E3. If these statements end up being false, I think there is a reason to be upset and I think some of the statements they’ve made in their marketing would be misleading in terms of the way it was presented.

As for right now, I think it is okay to dial back expectations like always. I do think this is a massive overreaction from people and I definetlye think it stems from the frustration of such a long wait, lack of news, and details and no supplementation through the months with screenshots, concept art or meaningful content we can visualize in the span between E3 and last year. This doesn’t necessarily mean doom and gloom and I think this rewards patience. With that being said lets wait until the entire conference unfolds to determine if it was a disappointing showing or not, and if the hype they have generated was justified especially in terms of them saying “their biggest E3 showing ever”. For now, sit back, relax and wait for E3.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Collector’s Edition Confirmed, Demo Differences & My E3 Invite Explanation!

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 News video. Today we have a Q1 2019 Earnings Transcript from CD PROJEKT which gives us some insight into new Cyberpunk 2077 information, the developmental speed of CD PROJEKT RED when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077, and some clarification about what I’m doing for E3.

First we have the Q1 Earnings Conference ran by CD PROJEKT where they go into some financial details about CD PROJEKT and CD PROJEKT RED. Now I’m going to heatseek out the meaningful content here as im sure all of you are mainly interested in Cyberpunk. In the opening summary for the earning section CD PROJEKT references payments remitted (which means sent back) by CD PROJEKT RED to its suppliers in relation to the production of physical components of the Collector’s edition of Cyberpunk 2077. This production is carried out at a remote location; Hence it needs to begin early and calls for advanced payments. They also mention their funding of their marketing materials for their ongoing marketing campaign including the quickjly approaching E3.

This is great news because it all but confirms a Cyberpunk 2077 Collectors edition. Now the remote location is interesting because CD PROJEKT RED loves to do all of their stuff in house. Their geralt ronin statue the latest high quality figure from CD PROJEKT RED is produced in house, so I’m incredibly interested to see what will be in the collectors edition if they feel like outsourcing it is a better idea than using the incredible talents they have in studio. Now they don’t necessarily speak on outsourcing, but they do say a remote location which could be owned by CD PROJEKT and CD PROJEKT RED so maybe it is in house but being created somewhere other than in the studio.

CD PROJEKT also mentions that the CD PROJEKT RED store is a limited undertaking but they are satisfied with being able to present high quality designed items for their consumer. They want their merchandise to match the quality of the games they produce. They do plan to expand it in preparation of the launch of Cyberpunk.

Next they mention E3 and make note that they will have a public exhibition with Warner Bros where selected fragments of the content shown at the private business demo will be showcased. While the slides summarize the bulk of our presence at the fair, they are also preparing certain surprises and invite us to monitor social media and / or come to E3 in person.

Now later on in the video I want to clarify up my E3 plans so stick around for that.

In a statement to a question asked to CD PROJEKT, they mention that they want the expansion of the merch store to occur prior to the release of Cyberpunk. They intend to launch it in america as well, but they want to provide American gamers with access to the same selection as the Europeans. According to them, This is coming soon – maybe not in a week or two but soon.

In a question about VR support CD PROJEKT answers that is its not technically speaking difficulty to support VR, but that the issue comes in when factoring game design. They add that their focus on PC and console editions they are not moving in the VR direction as of now.

CD PROJEKT RED also mentions that the 400 people working on Cyberpunk is a team that is no longer growing, except for the QA branch. They also mention that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is going at Full speed.

Now I did want to clarify on my invitation from CD PROJEKT RED to business sides demo.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Megacorporations Explained! (Agricorps, Mediacorps, Computing & More!)

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk lore video we are talking about the prolific megacorporations in Cyberpunk 2020 that may have a presence in Cyberpunk 2077. We will look at all the types of megacorporations and the corporations within these subsets.

In the world of Night City, Megacorps run the Cyberpunk landscape with an iron fist and are essentially judge jury and executioner. They are the kings within Cyberpunk and slaying a top tier corporate only means another unscrupulous individual, who is frothing at the mouth at the opportunity, will fill the void in the corporation.

The corporation power structure is set up so that the President and CEO are at the top and underneath them is a variety of mid to high level executives thirsty to climb up the corporate ladder.

At senior management and higher, corporates start to have true power and always travel with a heavy armed presence.

Next let’s look at the type of corporations there are, and the most prolific megacorps within that subset.

First we have Media-corporations. There are huge conglomerates that grew from a trend in the late 1980s where firms bought up all forms of media networks such as film companies, tv networks, book and magazine publishers to control the media and the narrative.

First up in our Mediacorps is network 54 news a 24 hour news service across the United States. No matter where you go within the States, it is always on channel 54. Despite it’s name it offers more than just raw news.

Next we have world news service, which is as you can imagine a news servide which keeps tabs on the world by any means possible.

Next we have Agricorps. IN the world of Cyberpunk the age of the family farm ended somewhere in the 1990s. With the United States being the world’s foremost producer of raw food stock, and the increased need for grain and crops to create fuel and plastic, agribusiness became incredibly powerful post-crash.

Petrochem is an agricorp focusing on petrochemical products and keeps the world running as the worlds largest producer of superfuel CHOOH2.

Soviet Oil world Industries known in the west as SovOil is a petrochemical corporation headquartered in the USSR.

They have a license to produce CHOOH2, although their product is inferior to Petrochems.

Next we have the Manufacturing corporations. There corporations were least affected by the collapse due to the capitalistic nature of the industry. Manufacturing ranges from vehicles to weapons, to even children’s toys.

First we have Militech which is a megacorporation specializing in weapons manufacturing of all kinds, and private military contracting.

Next we have Arasaka which deals in Corporate security, corporate policing and various corporate suboperations. Arasaka is one of the most powerful if not the most powerful corporations in the world of Cyberpunk.

EBM or Euro Business Machines is a megacorporation that specializes in the manufacturing of computer products, information tech and electronics.

Next we have IEC the world largest cybernetics developer. Now many megacorps in the world of Cyberpunk can trace their power and influence to some sort of speciality, but IEC is dominant in many areas.

Next up we have Computing corporations. With the emergence of the Net and the availability of advanced technology almost everything in the Cyberpunk world revolves around computing.

Zetatech in 2020 is an up and coming high-tech company focused on wetware, computer hardware and software designs.

Microtech is a megacorporation who produces ultra-sophisiticated mainframes and workstations and are proficient at building full-size computers.

Next we have Science corporations who produce and develop anything from bioware to cybernetics, to human clones, to crops and bio-fuels.

Biotechnica is the main Science corporation, who specializes in genetic engineering, microbiological and biochemical research.

Biotechnica had worldwide patents but could not keep up with worldwide demand and was forced to livense production to several large agricorps.

Next we have Armed Force corporations.

Lazarus is a megacorporation focused on contracting mercenaries and is lead by south American war veterans.

Finally we have the Service industries of 2020.

First we have Trauma Team one of the largest private medical firms in the world and provides ambulance services for a client base of at least 15 million people.

REO Meatwagon is Trauma Teams competitor, and provides a similar service.

Next we have Orbital Air which focuses on Cargo and passenger transport to Earths orbit and maintenance of commercial orbital facilityes.

Next we have Infocomp a corporate think-tank and group of information brokers.

Finally we have Merril Asukaga and Finch an exclusive investment and financial counselling firm. They are the top corporation dealing with investments of all kinds.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – E3 Booth, Public & Private Demo & New Screenshot!

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 news we are talking about some new information from CD PROJEKT RED regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s booth at E3, a New image of Male V, Marcin Iwinski and a Keynote at E3, and Cyberpunk 2077 finally joining Instagram.

I am incredibly crunched for time this week and weekend, so this is going to be a quick update, but I’m going to try to pack in all the vital information you need in this quick segment.

First we have a new Cyberpunk 2077 promotional video showcasing where Cyberpunk 2077 will be at E3. They will have a public booth in the South Exhibit Hall with Warner Bros who is their distributor for North America and typically has a dominant presence on the showfloor. Now this morning I got an invite to the private showcasing, which will last 1 hour long, and is going to be different from the public demo that they will show. Visitors will not be able to play the game at either the warner bros public booth or at the private event so im curious to see what the differences will be and why they even have a private event in the first place if they also hosting gameplay presentations for the public.

In any case, yes 2077 is looking to have a dominant presence on the showfloor. Now with this news they released a set of really awesome Male V wallpapers for mobile devices and your computer monitors. Dissecting this image a little further we see a little shift in the aesthetic of male V. He seems to have longer hair on top, his collar sports a blue LED, he has a new patch with a skull and stars, he’s holding a new weapon and 2 more curious details. He has a pin that says night city with a picture of the city being Nuked. We know in Cyberpunk Red according to Mike Pondsmith there is someone carrying around a nuke in the city, so maybe in 2077 there has been some cataclysmic event which originates from that detail. We also see his new shirt which seems to feature a broken heart and pills. The pills are highly symbolic of the movie Akira, and it even features the red and blue design of the Akira pills. Seems like it’s a nice like homage to the cult classic. There’s also some Trauma Team AV’s flying around in the background.

Next we have CD PROJEKT RED CEO Marcin Iwinski discussing the past, present and future of CD PROJEKT RED including Cyberpunk 2077, live at the E3 coliseum. I’m sure this keynote will be incredibly insightful for Cyberpunk 2077 and there’s always the possibility that CDPR’s unannounced game will be further teased.

Next we have Cyberpunk 2077 finally joining Instagram so go give them a follow as there is always the potential for exclusive content on their various social media platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – E3 2019 Leak, YouTuber Invites & CD PROJEKT RED Inhumane?

In todays Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077 News we are discussing a new E3 2019 leak highlighting everything that we will get from Cyberpunk 2077 this year at E3, Some big YouTubers invited to a CD PROJEKT RED showcase, CD PROJEKT RED under fire for allegations of over working and burning out their employees via Kotaku, A Trauma Team international Website and come clarification about an ARG, and some Countdown to the Dark Future details about The Net in Cyberpunk 2020.

First up in our Cyberpunk 2077 News segment we have a post on NeoGaf from a user who spills the beans on everything that’s going to happen at E3 when it comes to Microsoft. The title is The next 18 months of Microsoft the calm before the storm, and goes into detail specifically on what will happen at the Miscrosoft E3 2019 media briefing on June 9th where we will likely see our first Cyberpunk 2077 reveal. Now apparently this guy has “insider connections”.

In relation to Cyberpunk 2077 and CD PROJEKT RED, he claims that we will receive a Progress update of the game, a new gameplay trailer and a targeted release date from Cyberpunk 2077 at the Microsoft conference.

He goes on to show various business cards, and media passes, although out-dated as proof that he is someone in the loop, and doesn’t mention CDPR’s game coming “by 2021”

Now in my humble opinion the Cyberpunk 2077 related stuff is not anything out of the ordinary. We’ve speculated that we will likely received these things from CD PROJEKT RED and we aren’t anything close to industry insiders. The user joined in April 2019, as well so take this leak with a huge grain of salt. Again when it comes to strictly 2077, these are all things we’ve forecasted before.

Next up we have details of some big and prolific YouTubers getting invites from CD PROJEKT RED to see something at E3 2019. As far as I know it seems LegacyKillaHD, SkillUp, YongYea, got an invite along with Metal Jesus Rocks. They have been cryptically tweeting about their invites for “their most anticipated game of e3 2019” and in the case of SkillUp, community manager from CD PROJEKT RED Lilayah responded only giving more credibility that it is Cyberpunk 2077.

Now in SkillUp’s tweet they aslo make mention that it’s a behind closed doors session at E3. This leads me to believe that these guys will get their hands on the game to make impression videos.

Next up we have a Kotaku Article from Jason Schrier about the state of working at CD PROJEKT RED and how they have recently been criticized for having poor working condisitions and stretching their employees too thin when it comes to game development.

In this article, Schrier says The developer best known for the witcher series has cultivated a reputation for crunch in asking its employees to work nights and weekends for months at a time, and that studio management wants to improve their work life balance, even if they continue to feel that crunch is a necessity.

Interviewing Marcin Iwinski, Iwinski states that they are known for treating gamers with respect, but that they would like to be known for treating developers and staff with respect in the future.

He also mentions how CD PROJEKT RED has introduced a non obligatory crunch policy, And that even when the studio asks staff to work on nights and weekends its not mandatory.

Naturally game development is grindy at times, and especially with the polish and tenacity CD PROJEKT RED attacks it with, even more so.

At the same time a non obligatory policy has the potential to devolve into being ineffective.

Next we have the Trauma Team Interantional website and its “resurgence”. If you guys remember a while ago CD PROJEKT RED and Cyberpunk 2077 had a couple of ARG games during anf after E3 which is an alternate reality game where you find clues online and solve puzzles through their content.

On that note post E3 2018 there was a trauma team international website with an ARG. Fast forward to 2019 and MadQueen reported on it’s resurgence a few days ago after she realized there was an update to the TT international website and potentally prompting a new ARG from them in the future.

Finally we have some Countdown to the Dark future episodes featuring The Net. This is a series of the developers of the source material of Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk 2013 and 2020. We get a lot of lore information from these episodes.

In episode 135 we learn about what the Net actually is. The net of 2020 is the sum of total human telecommunications, joining together computers, telephones, cell phones, radios, microwave transmitters, satellites and more. Everything connected to the NET is part of it, from megacorp supercomputers to computer controlled-blenders.

The net has many functions including storing and sharing information, communications, and remote access and control of peripherals.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Richard Night, Night City & Mob Wars Lore!

In Today’s Cyberpunk 2077 & Cyberpunk Lore video we are talking about Night City, how it was founded, the visionary behind it, Coronado City vs Night City, Richard Night, The Mob wars and the downfall of America’s dream city.

Now within the world of Cyberpunk 2020 this was reprinted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Night City on May 17th 2019. If you take a gander at the calendar that is today in our time atleast in North America it is also May 17th 2019.

Night City was first conceived by Richard Night when he was a young partner in a construction company called Halsey Ferris and Night, which was a firm tackling massive corporate construction projects.

With hard effort and excellent results, the firm prospered and all three partners became very wealthy men. By 1990 however working on office plazas and corporate structures started to not be enough for Richard Night who departed to start his own firm Night International.

An ambitious man Night had a dream of creating a city of the future so grand that all cities build before or after it would pale in comparison. With immense design and visionary aspirations, he drew up plans for Night International to make this city a reality.

His next move would be to secure the unheard of amount of capital needed to finance the gargantuan project.

In Night’s Idealistic city, governments would be run by the corporations allowing optimum zoning and no anti-business elements to interfere with corporate growth. Ideally it would be a capitalist mecca of opportunity.

By 1992 Arasaka, EBM and Petrochem had all signed on with Night and all that was left, was to find the ideal location to build.

From the beginning Night focused on the central Californian coast due to its seaport potential, lush environment and an ideal location for an intercontinental maglev.

Funny enough whilst drafting a buy-in package with Petrochem, it was discovered that the megacorp owned the rights to drilling and most of the land situated around the Del Coronado Bay region. By 1993, Coronado City, Richard Night’s dream city was under construction.

Night’s plan involved a bay which accommodated bulk carriers, a picturesque old downtown and a gigantic corporate plaza, the new heart of the city.

During its construction however, Night International used a large number of advanced building styles and techniques which didn’t include archaic methods being used by older companies. His old associates of Halsey, Ferris and now Skiv were excluded during the building process. Furthermore, they had unwisely joined with a local mob figure who had a domineering presence over the NorCal region.

Via his scorned ex-coleagues, Night received frequent threats to his life within the first 4 years of the construction of Coronado City. A proud and self-reliant man, he typically ignored these threats. When the threats escalated, he called in for backup from his Corporate partners who dealt with the issue swiftly and ruthlessly.

Night’s luck eventually did run out however, and was shot and killed in his penthouse suite in newly constructed Parkview tower on September 10th 1998. The killer was never found, and in his memory the newly appointed city council renamed Coronado City Night City.

The next seven years were bloody as a multitude of different powers and influences battled for control of Richard Night’s vision. Whilst corporations controlled the government and the corporate center, the mob controlled the surrounding businesses and outskirts.

In this time, gangs backed by either the mob or the corporates began their ascent to power, in one of the forgotten areas of the city, known as The Combat Zone. Gangs are so firmly rooted here that only way to scramble them all would be a full on destruction of the zone.

By 2005 the Mob had ousted everyone else and became the ruling force. The next 4 years were the dark ages of night city with the mob ruling with an iron fist killing anything and anyone. In this time notorious gangs like the Blood Razors and Slaughterhouse formed, and Night City soon became the closest thing to hell on earth.

After 4 years and countless blood spilled on the streets, the corporations had enough and thus the Mob war was started between 2009 and 2011. Lagging behind in profits and reach within the city, the corporations took the battle to the streets to destroy anything not aligned with their corporate agenda.

Led by Arasaka trained para-military troops in assault vehicles, tanks and combat aerodynes, a wave of bombings, assassinations and killings descended down to the Mob who in their hubris was ill prepared.

The corporations inevitably succeeded and replaced the Mob as the new rulers of night city.

As it stands in 2020 Night city has just about recovered from its initial rocky stages. Night City is an armed society, and while complete chaos may be over, night city is very much still a dangerous place.

Cyberpunk 2077 – What’s America Like Prior To 2077? (Lore!)

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk lore video well be talking about America and the United States in the world of 2020 from the environment and weather to the government to the state of some of the cities and the events that have led up to 2020 that sets up the world for Cyberpunk Red and 2077.

America in 2020 isn’t the drug and gang infested hellhole many will havev you believe it is, but it isn’t also the oasis of opportunity the corporates will claim either.

In reality America in 2020 is more nuianced than this and is faced with a multitude of challenges and changes.

First let’s look at the environment and landscape of the pre 2020 era in the US. During the last 30 years or so, numerous ecological disasters have wrecked havoc on the United State’s Infrastructure. Global warming has melted the caps resulting in a higher sea level, and Large parts of the east coast and the south are now underwater or swampland. Rising temperatures due to this global warming have thawed out southern Alaska, central Canada and the upper US.

Global warming however has shriveled up The great plains and southwest, which have turned them into expansive deserts with furious sandstorms and screeching winds.

Over the past 20 years The pacific northwest region has had to contend with drought-stricken forests and a lack of water.

Night City, straddling the line between NorCal and SoCal gets the culmination of everything. – sweltering dry summers and cool dry winters with periodic acid rainstorms and choking poison ground smogs.

Sloppy pollution controls in the latter half of the 20th century has left a dent in the environment. Massive acid rainfalls hammer the Midwest, poisoning drinking water and crops.

Rock strikes from the ESA’s lunar-based massdrivers have decimated Tampa and Colorado springs and have churned up millions of tons of dust and heat into the atmosphere to aggravate global warming.

Ocean life has been hit hard as well due to the dumping of medical wastes from years of the wasting plague. Marine mammals, fish and phytoplankton necessary to replenish earths oxygen supply have all but died off.

Plagues have also dramatically impacted America. The AIDS epidemic of the 1990’s evolved into the AIDS crisis of the early 2000’s. Political infighting stalled researchers from finding a cure leading to the mutation of AIDS to a more lethal form.

Next let’s look at the government. The United states is pretty much a nation in name only. The executive branch is the only effective part of the federal government and it controls the military. It’s governed by a variety of advisors and appointed agency heads. For the last 3 administrations the president has been chosen in a background, since only 12.6% of the US population bothers to vote anymore.

The US government doesn’t really control what happens in the states, but it does control the border with a powerful volunteer military.

This resulted in the America of today: A few large densely packed urban areas, surrounded by ecological wastelands, ghost towns, agricorp farmlands and abandoned suburbs. This has led to the creation of 3 distinct types of urban environments in the Old Cities, Corporate Citites and New Cities.

Old cities are very similar to a late 20th century city.

Old cities have a mix of old and new buildings, factories, and shopping centres.

Corporate cities are cities whose governments and municipalities broke down during the Collapse. Powerful corporations moved in to fill the void and provided police, fire control and medical services.

New cities are very much a mix of old and corporate cities. They are characterized by modern building, urban planning and well laid out-streets. Night city for example was planned as a “model” city but when it’s visionary designer was murdered by organized crime, it rapidly degenerated into an urban nightmare and one of the worst cities in the early 2000’s

Every US city has a combat zone where law enforcement is non existant and gangs and gang warfare take place.

By eurostandards most places in the US have all the modern amenities such as video stations, cell phones, aerodyne vehicles, biosculpt parlours and cyberware. Whatever you can find in Paris, you are likely to find in Night City.

The level of technology in America is monumental. Huge videoboards, monster ad blimp clusters, pedicabs, cyberbikes, and holograms screeching out the latest headlines.

Weather wise, the acid rainfall percentage has been steadily dropping. As more cars are converted onto CHOOH2 and methane, the poison fogs that previously enveloped American cities are now less common.

American cities in 2020 live and die by the gun. An armed society has new rules and in certain parts of many cities there are designated free fire zones where weapons can be freely used to settle disputes.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Alienware “Leak”, Aesthetic Changes & Game Design Listing!

In today’s Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077 News video we have a cryptic tweet sent out by CD PROJEKT RED and Cyberpunk 2077 and some clarification and debunking about it, a new game design job listing from CD PROJEKT RED, an Alienware training event and a potential 2077 leak of sorts, some Cyberpunk forum answers including aesthetic and design changes, and some Countdown the the dark future details highlighting a cataclysmic event in the lore of Cyberpunk.

First we have our art section where we highlight some community creations focused on Cyberpunk 2077.

Getting right into today’s News segment we first have an interesting leak via reddit that was later deleted involving Alienware and Cyberpunk 2077. This was initially discussed on our Cyberpunk 2077 community podcast, so thanks to Mad Queen and IvanGT on twitter for some of these developments.

In this deleted reddit thread a verified Alien ware employee created a post titled “attended a training event for my job last night – I have reason to believe Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out this year”. Again this is from a verified used and goes on to say Attended an alienware hardware training event last night and they had promotional material for their new laptop plastered all over the wall – a cyberpunk 2077 edition that was coming later this year but they couldn’t tell us when or what exactly the partnership would entail, and they had not received permission from CPDR to announce it yet. Our trainer implied that they would announce the hardware partnership when CDPR announces a release date – which isn’t too far away.

Next we have Cyberpunk 2077 tweeting “Soon, Soon” early last week with seemingly no context until some clarification later in the thread, where they mention it’s in reference to the opening of their US Merchandise store.

Now I was in the Cyberpunk 2077 discord as people were speculating on this when Lilayah, CD PROJEKT REDs community manager tried to clear some confusion. She mentions that it was supposed to be a reply in the thread and not its own tweet.

Just as an aside to tweets that the Cyberpunk 2077 twitter has made, I’ll also be keeping my eyes out for a potential dev diary or documentary from the CDPR team based off of this tweet saying I hope CDPR and Cyberpunk teams are making a documentary like how Santa Monica studios did with God of War to which they responded with “who knows…”

Next we have a new job listing for a lead game designer for CD PROJEKT RED. This was found by a subscriber of LastKnowMeal’s and highlighted in one of his videos so you can check that out for additional information and more dedicated coverage. In essence this is a listing for a lead game designer who will help guide the team and supervise the design of gameplay systems and online mechanics in CD PROJEKT RED titles. Some of the responsibilities include directing the gameplay design around fun mechanics, reviewing gameplay and balance, and ensuring that the design and gameplay experience are of the highest quality.

Recent leaks are also suggesting a teaser of sorts for the new IP will be dropped at E3 2019, but then the rumor goes on to say it will release in 2022, after CDPR has explicitly said by 2021, and that they are focusing on 2077 for this particular E3, so take it with a grain of salt.

Next we have some official forum answers from again Lilayah CDPR’s community manager. In a thread regarding if ideas pitched within the forum by fans during the developmental process was incorporated Lilayah says that we will leave that for you to find out.

In a question regarding aesthetic and design changes to the game and some concerns that the game will deviate from what the original poster thought was an amazing gameplay reveal aesthetic, Lilayah responds that changes are super common to pretty much every single aspect, which includes art and graphic designs. This hints at some aesthetic changes for likely the better when it comes to 2077.

This comes along with recent news of the game being quite different than before, and some older news from Adam Badowski specifically mentioning that after the release of the 48-minute gameplay reveal that they will still be modifying netrunning, how weapons behave, driving physics, facial expressions and animations, and that what we’ve seen is very much a draft version.

In our final forum question we have a revelation that CDPR will have something exciting when it comes to cosplay in the future so keep your eyes open, your sewing machines ready and your cyberware nearby. This hints at a cyberpunk 2077 cosplay competition of sorts.

Finally, we have some countdown to the dark future episodes regarding an important moment in the world of Night City called The Collapse. This is a series dedicated to understanding RTlasorian Games source material of Cyberpunk 2020 which Cyberpunk 2077 is largely based on.
