Cyberpunk 2077 developers and some clarification on “new information”, statements about the cyberpunk 2077 delay from senior quest designer Philip Webber, the status of the Taipei Game Show and misinformation on a new Cyberpunk 2077 demo, a Cyberpunk 2077 fan film, CD Projekt shares breaking records and more will all be talked about .

First we have an article from ONMSFT.com where a interview with Head of Krakow studio John Mamais was mentioned.

Now due to the nature of the article, I went through CDPR’s community manager and PR to make sure this was a legitimate interview. It does seem like it is multiple articles from PAX Australia slapped together, which is not at all mentioned or explicitly stated and PAX Australia was quite some time ago.

This pieced together interview if you can call it that did get picked up by a ton of other media outlets, so I just want to mention that this information although new to many, is subject to being somewhat outdated.
Regardless there are tidbits we haven’t talked about yet.

The first question of interest to me was in regard to the teaser trailer and if it was the original vision for Cyberpunk 2077 or just proof of it’s concepts.
John Mamais answers with he thinks this was the original vision at one point, but it has evolved and changed a lot since then.

Customization is a big element of Cyberpunk 2077, and when asked how wild customization can get and if you can make a hilariously disfigured character, Mamais responds with there are limits because the customization options still need to fit the skeletal rig of the character.

We have talked about the Nintendo Switch in the past and as for any plans on the Nintendo Switch, Mamais mentions that Cyberpunk 2077 may be too heavy for it. It seemed like it was a miracle getting The Witcher 3 on the Switch and with Cyberpunk 2077 being so massive in it’s scale and density, I think this is something that will have to wait for.

Whatever Nintendo has planned for it’s next generation may be able to accommodate Cyberpunk, but only if CDPR wants to go that route.

We already know we can play Cyberpunk 2077 100% non-lethally, but John Mamais adds that this not only makes the game harder by not killing enemies, but that it will take a lot longer to play. The easiest way to play the game is to run and gun.

Tons of questions have been asked about simulator type experiences and Mamais mentions that “we don’t have any simulator stuff or gameplay. In Witcher 3, we did the open-world elements very late in the developmental process when we only had two or three people working on it.”

VR was also brought up, and Mamais admits that they do have VR dev kits, but that in many senses VR is not viable yet, and is still experimental and niche. If you guys are super into VR, GTA V just released a first person VR mod that seems to be quite good. For 2077 in the future, if there is a demand for it, there will probably be an unofficial mod for this.

Mamais goes on to mention an interesting detail, in that there are around 75 street stories. These street stories are a way to explore the world and level up your character and they are all custom and hand-crafted.
Clarifying with CDPR’s community manager Lilayah, she adds that the only thing confirmed right now is that we have street stories and she wouldn’t call them minor quests because those already exist alongside the main quest.

Street stories are more akin to the “?” from the Witcher. Street stories in the past have also been likened to monster contracts from the Witcher, which we obtain from Fixers, which will increase our street cred giving us access to things like higher-tiered vendors in the world. So pretty much street stories are not your traditional main side-quests, as those will also already exist.

When asked if there is anything, he is particularly excited about Mamais mentions that the real-time global illumination system has yet to be shown to the public and that it’s going to look more breathtaking that we’ve seen so far. He also mentions that the acoustic system that one of their sound programmers came up with is going to sound really realistic because of how it uses the geometry. It creates a reverb effect so it changes as the space changes. It’s going to be very immersive, deep and beautiful-sounding.

Moving on we have news from the Taipei Game Show which was supposed to happen on February 6th, before it was cancelled due to the Corona Virus.

Moving on we have a developer post from Senior Quest designer Philip Webber with some additional transparency on some of the rumors as to why Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed.

We also have some updates regarding Censorship and China. This comes from some a stout journalistic work from Sybsidian from the Triple S League.

5 Reasons Cyberpunk 2077’s Open World Will Be The MOST BELIEVABLE World Yet!

Today we are going over 5 BIG reasons the Open World of Cyberpunk 2077 Is going to push the boundaries on believably, design, visual design and density of activities and why the World of Night City and Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be the most realistic RPG game city.

When it launches in September of 2020, the world if finally going to see Night City for the first time, and really soak in, to what degree CD PROJEKT RED has improved upon their open world design prowess that was first shown in The Witcher 3. With such a bombastic change in not only the narrative in an augmented future, but also the infrastructural open world design of a bustling city surrounding it viewed from the first-person perspectives, this is new territory for CD PROJEKT.

The first reason that the open world of Cyberpunk 2077 pushes the boundaries, is in the team filling the open world with meaningful content. There is a ton of emphasis on the term meaningful, and you could spend hours in the Witcher 3 simply eavesdropping on interesting and expansive conversations expressed as ambient noise in the background between NPCs. At the precipice of The Witcher 3’s production, The Open World team was established and going into full production with this hand-picked team is going to make Street stories, side activities, vagrant mini-games and even aforementioned ambient conversations beaming with diversity, color, life and disguised as opportunity situational nuiances. This is a big reason we as a player will be getting side-tracked into the depths of Night City, forgetting all together the progressions of the main plotline. The Witcher 3 is arguably more memorable with all the marbling of a thick cute of kobe, and I think the Open World Team is a progressive move in never wanting to trim the fat of a true open world.

With this known and with the violent exposure of toxic tailored advertisements, product imagery and marketing slapped across every knock and cranny of night city, the In Games Ads team plays a pivotal role in making Night City as much of an antagonist as a Corporate big wig or ‘dorphed out booster ganger.

The in-games ad department is a separate entity, and is responsible for designing realist in game ads for the world of Cyberpunk, and their dedication to believe-ability, and their technical skill and creativity in combination with the rich lore makes the ads in Cyberpunk as visually provoking as it is thought provoking. If you’d like to know more about all the Ads seen in the almost hour long demo of Cyberpunk check the pinned comment for that video.

Next we have the hiring of actual city planners in building Night City from the ground up. From everything to realistic layouts for easiest flow of traffic, to positioning of buildings and points of interest that would make the most sense to even priming it properly for organic growth just like the ongoing construction efforts in real cities, CD PROJEKT RED has thought about everything here. This even begs the question of if consistent growth or pivotal changes in the city can lead to infrastructural changes as the franchise develops in future iterations of Night City, whether that’s in expansions, sequels or multiplayer. This is dedication once again to the believability of this world.

Next we have the sheer vertical scale of Night City, which will set a new precedent for open-world verticality. Night City features 6 Districts across a map teeming with Skyscrapers that reach for the heavens. While The Witcher 3 was known for its expansive Horizontal scale, Night City will feature vertical exploration through these megabuilding sans towering structures which will be teeming with life, quests and things to do. With the Badlands , the romping grounds of the Nomads highlighting the fringes of the playable map, there has yet to be an open world environment featuring this cyberpunk staple of mile high verticality. CD PROJEKT REDs John Mamais has even mentioned that The Witcher feels almost like a 2D game in comparison, to highlight just how different our traversal will be. CD PROJEKT RED has continually mentioned high quality exploration, and is looking to stay with their rule of encountering something eye catching, every 30 seconds within this vertical exploration.

Finally we have No loading screens, which is the holy grail of an Open World Game. Being able to seamlessly transition from skyscraper to ground to various districts, locales and regions without a momentum killing loading screen however quick it may be may very well be the cherry on top of the already heavily decorated sundae that is Cyberpunk 2077. Now whilst this is not necessarily revolutionary and has been done before, this in combination with the ambitious scale of the entire project is only natural!

Cyberpunk 2077 News – 3 Studios Helping With Cyberpunk 2077 Production, QA, Optimization & Porting!

Today we are jumping into some rumors (update: now confirmed) via GRY-Online.pl that run parallel with rumors about Cyberpunk 2077s delay earlier this week via Borys Niespielak about the game currently running into technological issues and limitations on mainly the base level Xbox One.

If you guys are unaware there was a Polish Podcast with a well-known Polish journalist who is known for his movie and game industry connections, where he lists things about Cyberpunk 2077 and CD PROJEKT RED, mostly correlated to why CDPR issued their delay and how the game is struggling on the basic versions of modern consoles. If you want to check out that video I’ll link it in the pinned comment.

Earlier today however there was yet another article posted by Polish publication GRY-online via the publisher of PolskiGamedev.pl and previous head of journalism at CD-Action monthly with more rumors regarding some of the internal workings of CDPR, and how they are tackling this alleged problem.

The publisher mentions that native teams of QLOC, Testronic and Crunching Koalas are participating in the work on Cyberpunk 2077, due to the immense scale of the project CDPR is working on. CDPR seems to have outsourced companies who all have niches in converting, optimizing and testing games to help with the project which backs what Bory Niespielak has mentioned in the delay of Cyberpunk mainly being console oriented.

QLOC is a polish company that is recognized worldwide as one of the best porting vendors, with a team of over 300 specialists who are experienced in Quality Assurance, Localization + Art Design. They have worked on big AAA titles like BioShock, Devil May Cry, Dark Souls, Hellblade, Steet Figher and more in various porting and quality assurance.

Testronic has 20 years of experience partnering with video game and entertainment companies, who also work mainly on Quality Assurance, localization, compliance and certification and customer support.
Finally we have Crunching Koalas who seem to be a studio more focused on indie titles, in again porting, co-development and publishing support.

Now in addition the article mentions there may be additional studios helping at the moment, and Marcin Iwinski also allegedly mentioned that 4 studios worked on Cyberpunk, but the video in which he supposedly says this is in Chinese, so I can’t verify this. If you do speak Chinese, I’ll link the video in the pinned comment, but as it stands this has not been confirmed.

My obvious and not revolutionary assumption here is that CDPR are really aiming for quality and there is likely a substantial amount of bugs holding this release back, and CDPR is bolstering their team with companies who have a specialized niche in the final stage processes of cleaning up a game for release. In this sense, it seems like the more cooks in the kitchen, the better to catch most bugs and glitches before Cyberpunk goes gold.
Corey Balrog has chimed into the delay and optimization conversation, and as someone who went through his fair share of hiccups with God of War having something like 3000 bugs when it was supposed to be 0 and ready for launch, I think his words are assuring in knowing that its not about f the studio will get there, its just when and to what efficacy.

In my opinion, if this is true, more power to CDPR, fly in the experts get things sorted properly get more eyes on the issue, get more people in there to brainstorm solutions, double down and make sure things go right the first time around on launch.

In some additional news, there are allegedly some layoffs at polish publisher CDP, which is oddly enough not related to CD project or cd projekt red, which seems to threaten the release of the game in Poland. CDPR has responses saying that all pre-release orders for cyberpunk 2077 placed from them will be honored, so if you were worried about that one, rest assured you will get your copy.

Cyberpunk 2077 Delay FAQ via CD PROJEKT RED Conference Call!

As a follow up to Cyberpunk 2077’s delay there was a CD PROJEKT RED conference call, where investors & journalists could have their questions regarding this change in plans answered by CD PROJEKT RED, so this video will be going over those details.

If you missed the prior announcement, CDPR took to twitter to say “Cyberpunk 2077 won’t make the April release window and we’re moving the launch date to September 17, 2020. We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done. Night City is massive – full of stores, content and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us precious months we need to make the game perfect. Expect more regular updates on progress as we get closer to the new release date.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you in Night City, thank you for the ongoing support”

This was echoed in the first few minutes of the investors call.

The first question received was in regards to if this new date is set in stone and if there are fears, that it may take even more time to perfect.
The studio responds saying that they know where they stand, and which aspects of the game need work and that they are confident about September 17th.

Regarding feedback on testing and the implication this delay has on future post release content and games, they mention that Feedback has been promising, and they are of course eager to deliver the game, but expectations are high and that they are also aiming quite high.
There will be a shift in the post release content and games naturally with the shift in the release of Cyberpunk.

In regards to September being a more competitive window in the gaming space, CDPR responds by saying that there will always be competition in the gaming space and they don’t see September as any more threatening than April or any other release window. A big single player RPG will find its place regardless of the date and other releases.

They move onto mention concretely that the other Triple A release they are working on is Cyberpunk Multiplayer, and that 2021 now seems unlikely for it.

When asked to elaborate on the reasons for the delay, Adam Kicinski mentions that it’s mainly due to technical and polishing needs. The game is complex and there are glitches but its nothing fundamental. With the level of complexity, polishing is even a complex task. There wasn’t anything unexpected, but they are constantly evaluating the task, and the decision was unanimous as 5 more months would help deliver a perfect game.
While this helps alleviate crunch, the final stages of game development always has this to some degree.

In regards to if this will effect this years E3 and Gamescom presence, CDPR mentions that they will have some sort of present at both, but it’s early to comment on this and there is no full strategy.

When it comes to regular updates, they mention that much of their marketing operates on surprises, but that they have begun pushing the game to rating agencies in PEGI and the ESRB boards.
They mention that they are very very happy with the story and dialogue, but they don’t want to tarnish this with technical glitches.

Distributors seems to be on board and supportive of the delay, but they will continue to talk to them as early as tomorrow.
Hands on previews and impressions were originally slated for February and March but those will be pushed back as well, to give media and journalists something that the studio is happy with.

With games having poor launches in Summer, a question was asked about the real amount of time needed to finish up the game versus a strategic launch in September. CDPR mentions September as being a more effective natural choice and aligns with the time needed to finish.
When it comes to cross gen, or next gen release, bothing has changed on this front. The game is developed with next gen in mind, but their ocus is on current gen.

They mentioned that with 3 months left, they felt this was the last moment for a delay announcement.

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been DELAYED! (September 17th, 2020!)

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed due to not being able to make the release window. The game is playable from start to finish, but its likely that CD PROJEKT needs that extra time.

VIA CDPR on Twitter:

“We are currently at a state where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done,” CD Projekt Red wrote in a press release, embedded below. “Night City is massive–full of stories, content, and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing, and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give the precious months we need to make the game perfect.” CD Projekt Red added that there will be “regular updates” on the game’s progress as the September 17 release date approaches.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Tyger Claws & Steel Dragons, “Wake Up Samurai”, Pondsmith Reveals Character?

A new gang poster hinting at one known and one unknown gang in Cyberpunk 2077 and their potential story implications, some miscommunication about an alleged hands on preview of Cyberpunk 2077, Mike Pondsmith revealing details on the 2077 timeline in the form of a character from the lore, if “Wake up samurai” will actually be tied into the game itself, and more in todays Cyberpunk 2077 News and information episode!

First off, we have some corrections issued by Gameranx when it comes to hands on previews of Cyberpunk 2077. In a most recent top games of 2020 video, a member of the Gameranx team mentioned that Jake Baldino had played Cyberpunk 2077 at one point and mentioned that there were positive impressions about it. This caused some buzz online and some speculation as to if the hands-on previews of Cyberpunk 2077 were around the corner, after late last year President & CEO of CD PROJEKT Adam Kicinski mentioned a strong dose of information about Cyberpunk 2077 in the form of hands on previews would be shared in early 2020.

Evidently this was an error in the video, and Baldino has taken to twitter to rectify this, so it seems like the wait will continue for hands on previews of Cyberpunk 2077, where we will learn how the game actually feels in the hands of game journalists, and media outlets.

Next up we have some big hints about the game in the form of Night City Gang Poster Art. If you guys are familiar with Michal Dziekan, he has done many of the gang posters that are featured on the CD PROJEKT RED Store, which are by the way 20% off right now. The Maelstrom and the Valentinos have been featured on these posters so far, but it seems like he’s currently working on a Tyger Claws poster at the moment judging by his Instagram.

The Tyger Claws are a gang in 2020 and 2077 and have allegedly turned from a defensive combat booster gang, to a gang who uses its fair share of cyberware, bikes and katanas and have strong ties to Arasaka. Obviously, the Tiger is their logo, which can be seen in the bottom half with a gang member riding a yaiuba kusanagi. On the top however, we have a dragon.

Now the Steel Dragons are Yorinobu Arasakas gang consisting of Tokyo Nomads, who in the lore of Cyberpunk oppose Arasaka for their vile corporate operations. Yorinobu hates Arasaka after being born into the family and uncovering their truths. The poster shows what could be the two gangs clashing over territory, which would make sense lore-wise. At this point it’s a strong point of speculation that we will see Yorinobu and the Tokyo Nomads aka The Steel Dragons in the game.

Now In the same vein, Mike Pondsmith has taken to reddit, as he seems to do from time to time, to reveal more about Cyberpunk 2020, red and 2077. In a post he lays out a RP scenario he used to run called “Michiko’s Night Out” which involved the granddaughter of Saburo Arasaka leaving the compound on her 18th birthday in the company of her personal bodyguard Solo Kenichi Zaburo. While out barhopping, she runs into cyborg solo Adam Smasher, leading to some explosive results. As he continues, he likens Michiko to a cross between battle angel alita and a mad girl genius and mentions that we will meet an older Michicko in the full Cyberpunk Red release, and that she might show up in 2077 since she continues to exist in that timeline. It seems like we could be adding another Lore based character to the 2077 roster.

Next up we have details about the second most infamous Keanu / Silverhand quote so far. “Wake up samurai” has become a favorite line of those who have been following Cyberpunk 2077, but it seems like this dialogue between the player and Johnny might be confined to just the CGI Trailer for Cyberpunk. Via CDPR’s Community Manager Lilayah, we learn that this line is a phrase from the CGI trailer, not from the game so you probably won’t hear him mention these exact words.

Now we’ve talked a lot about the World of Cyberpunk 2077 lore book in the past, as well as the recently announced deluxe edition, but we’ve had some poor images so far to work with. We mentioned that yes there are temporary tattoos featured in the deluxe edition that show us the main gangs, some of which we didn’t know about before in the Mox and 6th street, but now we have a clearer image, featuring The Animals, The Voodooboys, The Valentinos, 6th Street, The Maelstrom, The Mox, Tygers Claw, and presumable one more hiding behind the first page. This could be the Wraiths mentioned on the back of the book, a subfaction of the violent rogue Nomad Nation the Raffen Shiv.

We also have a clearer image of the new vehicles, and 2 more car manufacturers in night City. We knew about Quadra and Thorton in our prior inspections, but now we have Archer, which represents the Entropism visual style, and Rayfield which represents the upper echelon neo-kitsch visual style.

Cyberpunk 2077 News – Jan 10th, Taipei Game Show, New Merch & Johnny Has A Bomb?

Gameplay details that we can potentially extract from a new Jonny Silverhand product, January 10th, which is tomorrow and it’s significance in the history of Cyberpunk 2077 promotional material and what we can possibly see tomorrow, A ton of new Cyberpunk 2077 products that have yet to be shown and more are going to be discussed in todays Cyberpunk 2077 News video!

First we have why people are speculating that tomorrow, January 10th we might get something of significance from Cyberpunk 2077. We have the beep tweet from Cyberpunk 2077 pre e3 2018 after a 5 year hiatus from the Cyberpunk 2077 Teaser Trailer. This beep issued in the start of the brief marketing campaign for E3 2018 with the hacking off the conference and the in-game engine trailer. Now prior to this beep, there was the Teaser Trailer which was believe or not posted on January 10th of 2013. Not only this but the date within the trailer was actually January 10, 2077. Again this date just seems to have some sort of significance when it comes to marketing, and aligns with the marketing ramp up and maybe even the continuation of the ARG.

I want to make clear that this is 100% speculation, that CD PROJEKT RED will continue with January 10th being significant, so just temper your expectations for now.

Just as an aside we do have confirmation of Cyberpunk 2077 being at the Tapei game show in the month of February with Cyberpunk 2077 being on display. No information on whether it’s a hands on demo, or trailer or anything but, it’s at the very least something substantial. Hopefully this is something significant so mark that down in your calenders.

Next up we have some new screens of the Johnny Silverhand statue from the recently announced McFarlane Series of Toys with some interesting details. In this image, it features a new Pistol that we have yet to see in the game, which might be unique to Silverhand himself, as well as a dufflebag. Now the interesting thing is that the duffel-bag seems to house some sort of bomb. Obviously Silverhand has opposed Arasaka corp in the past for things done to his loved ones, namely Alt Cunningham, but in 2077 Silverhand is a hologram, or digital ghost. This implies he won’t be able to carry a physical bomb, so this might hint at a flashback scene from 2020. Let me know your theories below.

SideShow, which again we talked about last episode seems to have updated their site with their plans to make a silverhand and geralt statue. Now normally I wouldn’t be overly interested in action figures and statues, but looking at the sheer realism and unmatched detail in sideshows prior works makes me pretty enthusiastic about what they will come up with for both Cyberpunk and The Witcher. I just hope for your guys sakes its not in the thousand dollar range like some of the larger more detailed statues have been priced at.

Moving on we have even more Cyberpunk products featured in the GameStop store. This includes a Lizzy Wizzy Statue, a Night City Diorama, and a Cyberpunk 2077 mask and arm. There are no images as of yet, and some of their release dates seem to be months after release of the game, but I’m going to assume these are placeholder dates. They aren’t cheap either ranging from $59.99 to $99.99.
